I need a little help. I will be buying a Kahr PM9 (black w/ night sights) soon. I am wondering what the differences are between the PM9 and the MK9? I am looking for a pocket carry, and can't seem to distinguish any difference betwen the two, other than cost. Any help will be appreciated..Thanks, Mike

well the biggest difference would be the MK9 being all steel while the PM9 is polymer framed...weight is different, about 8 ounces. PM9 would be better suited for pocket carry imo.

Huuuuuuuuuuuge difference. Unless you are in a habit of wearing some very heavy clothing with a double stiched pockets, MK9 is definitely not a pocket gun. If you think you can comfortably carry 27 oz of weight (that is how much a fully loaded MK 9 will weigh) in your pocket - you will soon find yourself leaving it at home IMHO

I did not realize that the MK9 was all steel. Thanks for the replies..Mike

Definitely agree. The MK9 is a beautifully-made piece of steel, thus heavy. I like the one I have, but I'm not sure why I have it because its weight makes it unsuitable for carrying, while its small size makes it hard to be accurate if you just like shooting.

thats why we have a PM9 at 14 ounces. It is pocketable, certainly not as beautiful as the MK but for me my protection gun doesn'thave to pass the beauty contest, but it has to pass the reliability contest..

I have to agree the MK is a waist gun.. and a beauty by the way.

I should have realized the difference. I was looking in a gun catalog, and they showed the MK9 as a Polymer frame. You can't believe everything you see..Thanks again..Mike

Mike--you are going to love your PM9! The only MK I have ever thought about getting is an MK40, just FOR the extra weight. But it would be a travel gun, not an every day carry.

I have a PM40 and I use it as an example to new shooters of the difference in kick between a light gun just for concealed carry and a heavier one that is suitable for lots of shooting at a range.

I think the MK guns ARE beautiful, may be reason enough for me to get one some time, if I sell off one of my ugly guns.

Get the cm9 instead you won't notice the difference

I have both. I practice at the range with the MK9, but because of the lighter weight, carry the PM9. I shoot the PM9 just often enough with my PD ammo to ensure reliability, but the MK9 gets the most workout.

Thanks for all of the help, and your valued opinions. I have looked at both the CM9 and the PM9 and am going to go with the blackPM9 w/night sights. I prefer the looks of the black on black, and have a few extra bucks to play with at the moment..I may pick up a CM9 for the little woman, though..Mike

truer (is that a word?) words have never been written. not sure why you have it???? i'm right there with ya. seems it could best be summed up by saying 'cause i can'. wish i had all my dollars back for things i purchased 'cause i can'. i'd be able to afford a kahr that actually made some sense *for me*....like a pm9

I agree. I'd buy a PM9 again over the CM9 for the same reasons and because I can afford it.

Yup. Why do I have the MK9? Because it's nice. But it's not really all that useful. I'm not going to get rid of it, but I *am* toying with getting a PM9 because it seems to be what I really was looking for in a carry-able 9mm. Trouble is, that I have a lot of other guns on my wish list, and I don't know that the PM9 is my top priority at the moment.

i know what you're sayin....i've got my eye on a k9 (either an elite or all blk). go figure!!! almost seems like another mk9 elite 'cause i can' idea. actually, coupled with a pm9, the k9 seems to make sense to me. somebody STOP ME!
