Just joined the NRA for the first time, and I feel GOOD! Got a discount at the last Ft. Worth Gun Show (that's in Ft. Worth:crazy:). With my $25 payment I got a year's membership, a subscription to a magazine, a free hat, a NRA sticker....and I'm good to go!
Just wanted to flaunt my stuff for a moment. How about the rest of you NRA Old-timers....what else can I look forward to as a new member?

Hate to say it but lots of junk mail. I try to keep my membership current, I think they are one of the best things going for us but hate the constant mail and request for money.
Now that I ponder it, it hasn't been that bad lately. Maybe will all the internet emails I receive they don't waste the stamps anymore.
Glad you joined up. Every member counts.

if you're young enough (under 30...and expect to live a nice long life), I would suggest you go ahead and buy the life membership. You'll save quite a bit of money after the first 20 years or so. I wish I had done the life membership for under a hundred bucks when I turned 18.
As for the junk mail..... they send it to 1 year subscribers, 3 year subscribers, life members by the truck load. Every three months you can expect a letter requesting you renew early.

I get pissed at all the mailings I receive, but they are the "Big Dog" in the battle for gun rights. Gun Owners Of America and The Second Amendment Foundation are two good organizations also.

I joijned at age 16, 51 years ago and back then it was either 125 or 150 bucks for lifetime and I even had 3 years to pay it off. Best investment I have ever did. But back in the 60's $150 bucks was alot of money to. I hve no idea what lifetime membership is today.. They are the big dog in our fight..

Yep, I heard about the mass mailings, but I can use that to start my charcoal for grilling. Lifetime membership was offered to me at a killer sale price: only $1000.00. Couldn't bite on that one, so I walked.

Another benefit is the $2500 insurance on your firearms. I know that my home coverage only goes to $2500 for firearms. But I can use the NRA's on top of that.
$2,500 of ArmsCare coverage with your NRA membership. This plan covers insured firearms, air guns, bows and arrows against theft, accidental loss, and damage.

Thanks for joining! You'll get a lobby staff to protect your [and my] shooting rights in Washington and your local capitol. I rarely get any junk mailings.

I am a Life member, as well. It really is the best money that I have ever spent. Every member counts. In my opinion, if you own a gun, you should belong. It is that simple..They are always on our side..Mike

I became a Life Member in 1971. Best investment that I've ever made. The NRA protects your second amendment right and that right insures all of your other freedoms. That is the biggest benefit of becoming an NRA member. Would I do it again? In a heart beat. Welcome aboard.
Welcome to the NRA.
There is strength in numbers. Every vote counts.

$1000?? At $25/year (the discounted "renew early" rate they always extend), it would take 40 years to break even. I'm not sure I'll still be alive in 40 years. Of course, their yearly rate might go up.

If you know a Life Member you can obtain a life membership for $300 through the friends and family plan. Does that sound more inviting?

Are you sure about this offer? Is it still available? Of course $300 for a lifetime membership sounds more inviting that $1000! That's still tight on the ol' shoestrings, but it won't BREAK 'em!
I wonder if I could claim some of you lifers as "knowing you" to qualify? Any special loops to jump through? Very curious!
