Hi all, my first post here. I'm also on HKPRO and PF.com under the same name.
I've got a P380 that I'd like to ask about. Before I go any further:
-All mag springs have been installed correctly
-Gun has 180 rounds of Federal Hydra-Shok, 160 rounds of WWB, 26 Buffalo Barnes SCHP's, 20 Magtech SCHP's, and 250 rounds of Magtech FMJ though it.
-In addition to having been broken in by shooting, I hand cycled this baby enough to make my skin raw.
-Gun is cleaned and lubricated properly.
Okay, I'm still getting a failure to feed every once in a while. It's gotta be out of the woods by now with regards to breaking in(break-in was rough, multiple stoppages per mag, that's over with though). Last week, I shot 40 WWB with 1 failure to feed. Today, I shot 13 hydra-shoks with 1 failure to feed. Out of the ammo listed, these two have proven the most reliable. The SCHP's just seem to be too long in OAL to feed reliably, and the Magtech was just a plain abortion.
I really like the shooting qualities of this pistol, but this isn't up to par for reliability. I've read as much as I could, and wanted to ask if there's something else I should look at. Fortunately for the time being, I've got my HK P2000 that's gone 13000+ rounds without a single stoppage/malfunction/breakage, and my Walther PPS that I completely trust.
I'm beginning to wonder if the design is just flawed. Comparing it to other pistols I've had my hands on, it just seems like a really steep angle for the rounds to feed at.
Disclaimer: I know it's not going to run like a full size service pistol. I don't expect it to pass any grueling torture tests, or even a 2000 round test. It definitely needs to work better than it does now, though.
Anyways, thanks for any help you guys can offer.
Regards,
Tyler
