I would like to thank all the members for their suggestions and help in trying to get my PM45 up and running, also Kahr CS and the Tech who worked on my gun.. The following report may be a bit lengthy I apologize.
OK, now the good news, today was a success.
First let me mention that I am not sure what the exact cause of the problems were, if I had to guess I'd say there were several small issues that combined caused one big problem, FTF.
I think issue number one was that the gun was extremely tight and needed a lot more than 200 rounds to loosen up.
Issue number two I think was ammo related
Issue number three I am wondering if the mag springs were just to stiff from being new. Sycko Smoker mentioned checking the mags, which I did, all looked OK but I decided to load the mags and let them sit with a full clip.
Issue number four, again a guess, lubrication, I saw one member mentioned Kahrs should be run more wet. I tried a lighter grease this time and a bit more of it.
Today went well, here is what I shot and the results:
Speer Lawman FMJ 230 gr Fired 30 rds ... Flawless
Federal Champion FMJ 230 gr Fired 25 rds ... Flawless
WWB FMJ 230 gr Fired 15 rds ... Oops 1 FTF
Remington UMC FMJ 230 gr Fired 25 rds ... Oops 1 FTE
Federal HST JHP 230 gr Fired 15 rds... Flawless
Speer Gold Dot JHP 200 gr +P Fired 5 rds ... Flawless
WWB ..After the one FTF I had no other problems with the remaining 12 rds. Interestingly when I went to clear the jam, as soon as I went to drop the mag the round fed. Not like previous jams that required dropping the mag and pulling the slide back to clear the cartridge.
UMC.. the empty casing didnt clear the slide when ejecting and hung up, I think I relaxed my grip because this never happened before.
Speer GD.. I dont know if the PM 45 is +P rated so I did not shoot any more than 5 rds
Observations... I think a few more rounds to loosen up a bit more and the
gun will be 100%
Recoil... I didnt find recoil objectionable maybe about like an MK40,
more of a push than a snappy twist.
The PM 45 has a tendency to rub the knuckle on my
thumb raw so I put a LimbSaver on and that helped.
