 Just three hundred rounds through my new CW9 and there appears to be a notch on one of the guide rails toward the front. The rack just quit locking in place after the last round and I experienced some weird play in the gun. Otherwise it has been a pleasure to shoot. I guess it's back to the factory. Anyone experience this?

That notch is normal and was there from production. This is a witness mark for the polymer frame manufacturer and is present by design.

That notch is to locate the metal insert, in the mold, when the frame is made.
Every gun has it...
just sayin'

The owner's manual explains the notch.

Does nobody read the owners manual?Of course. It's a lot shorter than the one that came with my car.

arrowtech,
Welcome to the forums:)

You concern about the guide rail notch is a common occurrence on the board. Brent and Tilos have provided you with the correct explanation for what it is. Further confirmation can be found on Kahr's website:
http://www.kahr.com/faq.asp#q24

FWIW, there is no mention of this in the manual, but perhaps there should be: http://www.kahr.com/PDF/kahrmanual.pdf

edit..

Q. There is a chip in the metal guide rail of my polymer pistol. Is this normal?

A. This is a witness mark for the polymer frame manufacturer and is present by design.

Thanks everyone for your support. I should have taken note of that notch during prior cleaning and lube. The gun however seems to have a trigger reset problem AND occasionally the rack won't lock open after the last round. None of these problems were present during the first range outing. The Kahr rep suggested I run some more rounds through it. I do enjoy firing the gun. By the way... I did read the manual (twice).:)

Ok re read the section about assembly sir. Not trying to dig on you BUT it is possible to get the slide lock pin in wrong and that may casue the trigger and the slide lock issue I believe. I know I have to think about it when I reassemble.

Ok. I took special note of the slide lock spring. Have to admit that its pretty tough making sure that the spring end is resting properly on the protrusion. Thanks!

I hope that solves your issues. I dunno for sure but it can't hurt to make certain.

There are videos for each pistol showing how to take them apart and reassemble them, with special emphasis on the orientation of the recoil spring and the slide lock insertion with respect to the spring.
