My P380 is back at Kahr for repair of light strikes and maybe a frame as my serial number is smack dab in the middle of the bad time (RB27xx). I sent it 22 days ago and have heard nothing yet. I know they have a bunch to repair. Anyone got a frame replacement back lately and what was the total time it took? Thanks, Dan

My lady friend got it back in 5 weeks but it still has bugs (FTRB). She might need to send it back for the second trip.

Ouch...I just sent Kahr an email asking about the status of my gun that's been in for under 4 weeks...I feel like a knucklehead now...:o

There is certainly no harm in contacting them especially by email and requesting the status of your gun. If nothing else it insures you don't somehow fall through the cracks. You have no way of knowing and depending on work load and parts needed it's difficult for them to project a date too.
You may get the simple it's in queue for a smith to look at but at least you know your still in line. Major components like a frame I'm sure take longer as they have to wait for the frame.

+1 Agreed...That's pretty much all I was looking for...

I checked on mine today. It's been there four weeks. They said the gunsmith has it and it required a frame replacement as part of the repair and they are going to test fire it enough to accommodate the break in process. I had the impression it will be shipped to my FFL this week. This is my second frame replacement.

What ammo do they use? Anyone know?

You're the fifth person that I know receiving this same quote "They said the gunsmith has it and it required a frame replacement as part of the repair and they are going to test fire it enough to accommodate the break in process."
to accommodate the break in process = at least 200 rounds fired ?
I find this very hard to believe.
I'm willing to make a bet that you still have some kinda issue when you get it back from Kahr.
Seriously, I'm not even sure how the gunsmith "test fire" the pistol without any issue unless they use 1) special ammos, 2) special mags. If true, then it's not a "real test fire"

Just recieved my P380 back. gunsmith reported," Updated cocking cam pin, striker block, extractor, ejector, and recoil springs. Polished feed ramp and slide stop lever. Cleaned all grease out of gun. Oiled and test fired good". Guess he does not like TW25 or I use too much. Have not had a chance to test. Anyone heard of a cocking cam pin update?

none that I know of. u gotta remember tyhat kahr has the opportunity of just replacing parts until the gun works. they jreplaced 5 parts and did two different polishing things, so tha ttome tells me that they just started to replace parts until it got right. I would say there is nothing in any cocking pin update. I will stick with TW25 any day, all day to. Hope all works out well now that it is back.

4-5 weeks turn around is about right.
I doubt seriously if your pistol is problem-free yet.
Just take it to the range and put in 200 rounds to test it or break it in yourself. Forget about their "test fired good" <= this is a total BS
Good luck and please report your trip result

Anyone heard of a cocking cam pin update?ON a gun with tight tolerances, especially during the break-in period, oil is superior to grease. Hope they aren't referring to shipping grease never cleaned out from when it left the factory.

UPDATE: I tested the repaired gun with PMC Bronze and had light strikes starting on round 7. I had 10 light strikes in 70 shots. I cleaned and went back last night with Remington FMJ and had 5 light strikes out of 50 shots. Jay has been great and has offered to have it sent back again. He said this time a Dept. head would look at it. Yesterday the first light strike did not happen until round 38. Then they came quickly. I hope they can fix it this time. Dan

The same issue happened to my lady friend P380 (frame changed and bunch of other things done). Why can't Kahr fix it right the first time?

Kahrlover, Did they fix it the second time? Dan

It's in the Kahr shop now. Wait for another 4-5 weeks.
The first time they changed the framed and did a bunch of other things.
She still has light strike and FTRB (a lot less than before but still about 10-15%).
It's unacceptable.

Just sent mine back again yesterday. Jay wanted it sent directly to him at K.I.A. I hope I don't get in trouble as I also sent the unfired bullet with 2 light strikes on it for them to inspect. Sure hope they can figure out the problem. Dan
I sincerely commend you guys for your patience. After several weeks of contemplation I recently made the difficult decision to trade mine for a PM40.

IMO a very wise decision.. when one looses faith in "anmthing" best peddle it and move on. Peddled my first wife 27 years ago, never loked back either. She was about like some of the P380's "wouldn't work"!!

Don't ever send ammo back with a repair order. You are risking more than you apparently realize.
1. They could refuse any future packages from you.
2. You have just assumed a large liability and put your life's assets at risk.
3. There may even be a crime involved depending on the states involved.
A picture could have "explained" your malfunction.

I did not know that. I hope none of that comes true. I know I recieve ammo by fed ex when I order it. I hope Jay understands I meant no harm.

Notice when you RECEIVE ammo, it has been clearly marked ORM-D in a blue background. Shipping handlers know how to treat it and are forewarned. It is illegal for anyone to ship unfired ammo through the US Postal System.
Hope they fix the gun, this time :(

My P380 is still sitting at Kahr, awaiting customer service supervisor review and testing prior to being returned to me.
We'll see if that's worth anything...

unfired ammo in the mail? the gestapo will be kicking down your door and dragging you off to federal-pound-me-in-the-ass prison shortly.

Well thats sure something to look forward to. Not US Mail but Fed Ex if that difference counts. Does anyone think I should email Jay and ask for mercy? Upon reflection I realize I made a mistake. Not the first and will not be the last. Dan

Forget about it and just remember not to do it next time.

I totally agree on this. If any of my pistol gives me some issue (besides it's my own mistake), it's a gonner. Forget about Kahr or any manufacturer warranty. The reason is very simple. When it comes to the time you need it at most (life and death), is Jay from Kahr (or entire Kahr's team) there to defend you? Heck no, you're as good as dead.
I tried to talk my lady friend into selling her trouble booger but she insisted in trying to get it fixed. In the meantime, she's enjoying her trouble-free TCP :)

I had to send mine in for service as well. The slide kept locking back with rounds still in the mag. I tried a new slide stop spring, filing the slide stop, tighter grip, various cartridges, but nothing worked. The pistol was at Kahr for about 6 weeks. They had to replace the frame, extractor, slide stop, and some other parts. They said the frame was out of spec. I got it back and immediately went to shoot it. It works great now. I can tell they shot the heck out of it too because it was filthy. Since they had to replace the frame, they could not ship the pistol back to me, it had to go to a dealer. I paid the transfer fee, but they gave me 2 free mags to compensate. I have not shot enough rounds through it to completely trust it, only about 50, but hopefully it will all work out.

Just recieved a call from Rich at Kahr that my P380 did in fact need a new frame. It is done and will go out in the next day or two to my FFL. Rich was very nice and said if it was not perfect to call him direct and they will make it right. Both Jay and now Rich both seem like super good people and I am at a loss how some think the customer service is not up to par. I actually think it is great. Dan

I guess the gunsmith and the customer service supervisor are still trying to make it work.

Got the call today that my P380 will be headed back my way.
New barrel, slide stop lever, extractor and recoil springs.
My suspicion was that the extractor was out of spec and/or too tight to let the rim of the round slide under it reliably which caused the failures to feed.
We will see when it shows up tomorrow or Tuesday.
Anybody want to buy it from me?...make me an offer.
I'll sell it to you exactly as it's being returned to me from Kahr.
I won't even bother unboxing it, I'll just throw another Fed-Ex label on it and send it to your FFL.

Santa's available funds just took a couplea big hits. I'd be willing to buy it, but I don't want to offend you with a lowball offer. How serious are you about selling?

I don't offend easily and I've already replaced the P380 with a LCP.
I'm at the point now that even if it shoots flawlessly I'd still not trust it 100%.
Make me an offer via PM, you pay actual shipping from zip 88240.
P380 (should be "like new" since EVERYTHING has been replaced over the past few months) with XS Big Dot NS and 5 brand new latest version magazines along with a Kahr Shop leather pocket holster.

I sincerely hope so.
btw: Sold pending funds.
I had food poisoning from eating some banana peppers on a sandwich one time.
Even though I know that all banana peppers won't make me sick, I can't stand the sight or smell of them even years later.
That's how I feel about this P380.
And honestly, if it malfunctioned again I'd probably throw it in a wood chipper and wouldn't recoup any of my money.
It's better that it's going to a new home.

150 perfect in all way rounds. The new frame seems to be working. Repair ticket said "Third time returned" Maybe that got it to a better smith. Maybe they realized I was going to continue to send it back until it worked. Jay and Rich really took care of me. If yours is not running right call Jay and he will continue to work with you until it does.
