View Full Version : CW9 magazine problem

I have had my CW9 for about 7 months now. I love it and it has completely replaced my Glock 23 as my daily carry gun. It's just so much more comfortable to carry IWB and I shoot it so much more accurately.

My problem is this: I have 4 mags for my CW9. 2 7 round mags and 2 8 round mags. All do the same thing. All of them seem to hold the top round too loosely. If I put the spare mag in a mag holder, about 1/4 of the time when I go to pull it out, the top round will pop out of the mag. I keep thinking this has to be a problem that others have had as it would seem monumentally unlucky for me to have gotten 4 mags that all have the same problem and this got to be fairly wide spread.

I did just see this thread: http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=7325 and I measured one of my 8 round mags and found that it was a bit wider at the top. I have since (5 minutes ago) done what the OP in that thread did and squeezed the top of the mag with a small vise. This seems to have significantly tightened up the top round.

So, is this a wide spread problem as I suspect?

Yup, in both ways to take that statement. Frustrating that something so simple and easy to fix remains an issue after all this time.

Glad to see I'm not alone...

Damn. This is really, really disappointing to hear. A gun so well designed and one that fits my hand so well, is so easy to carry and so near perfect, has this simple of a flaw that has not been fixed by the company after this long. Very disappointing.

Is this a problem with just the CW/CM line or do all Kahr models across the board have this same issue?

Mine does this too, it wants to pop out just from touching the tip of the round basically. Very annoying and makes carrying an extra magazine not practical. An extra mag is usable if you keep it laying on a nightstand for home defense, but not for concealed carry.

Claycooper, check this thread out and give this remedy a try. I did it last night and now my top round doesn't try to pop out anymore. And as far as I can tell, it hasn't effected reliable cycling at all. I'm happy that this fix works but sad that I even needed to do it.
