View Full Version : New CM9 range report!
Hello. New member here. I just got finished running 100rds of Federal ball ammo and 20rds of the Speer Gold Dot 124g shot barrel load through my brand new CM9. It functioned 100% but only occasionally would lock back on the Federals but locked back every time with the Speers. It seemed the Federals didn't have enough power to lock the slide back. I could feel a big difference in recoil between the two as well. Anyone else experience this?

Welcome to the forum. You will find much good info here.
The failure of the federals to lock the slide open when empty will probably go away as you put another box or two of ammo through it. The pistols are very stiff and tight when new and loosen up a bit as they wear in.

Also, please see the prep and lube sticky in the tech section of the forum, or OldLincoln will show up on your doorstep with a tube of tw25 and some CLP.

You make that sound like it's a bad thing. He's had a standing invite to occupy my doorstep for sometime, so far he's a no show. I don't make this offer to many folks from California neither.
Doorstep or not the lube sticky and prep are good stuff to read.

If I show up on your doorstop with a tube of TW25, you better check to see if I have rubber gloves on my hands!! If so, slam the door and RUN! :) I know I'm like a street corner preacher standing on a box shouting to y'all but the message is straight and true. Grease 'er up and she will run.
Shot with RogerDoger this morning. His little P380 is about cured and out of 75 rounds had 1 fail to lock the slide on last round. That was when I was shooting it and you could feel it trying to lock, like catching half the latch, but not making it. His new frame may have some poly keeping it from full latch. He sill check it out. Also, for those of you who fail to heed my words..... he oiled the dickens out of his gun but after 50 rounds it was pretty dry. I whipped my tube of TW out of my range bag and lubed it a bit. I'll say it again... where it says "Coat" it means Coat with grease.
Anyway, I am impressed with the little P380. It shoots very nice and is quite accurate. And it sure is tiny! I also shot Roger's CW9 which felt like the grip was fat to me but it shoots real nice also.
This was also the first time I shot with a laser. It's almost cheating and my shots scored 2 rings better and the laser got back on target very quickly. I've not been a fan of the critters, but now I think they deserve a second look. It sure solves the being able to see issue at least in the rang light. I guess I should take me LaserLite outside in the sun and see if it woks as well.
Anyway, RogerDodger is a good guy even if he is almost my age. Bawanna, keep that invite open, would you? It may be a while but I'd like to get up that way after the misses gets put back together. May be a year or so but keep the light on for me.
I have read about lube prep and Kahrs. I owned a PM9 a couple years ago and although it was a great gun, I traded it for another "got to have it" gun! It worked perfectly from the start. I don't consider the failure of the slide locking back to be a malfunction. I knew what was happening as soon as I fired the Speers and it worked perfectly. I figure it will loosen up and start locking back on the weaker loads eventually. Thanks everyone for the input.
