Well I was not able to make it back out with the Kahr as soon as I had hoped. In the meantime while waiting for the chance to shoot it I did a little tuning. Looking at the wear marks on the barrel hood caused by the slide from the previous session gave me a clue, so I broke the knife sharp edges I found along the locking surfaces of the slide and barrel hood. I also removed some of the slide stop "nub" that the magazine follower pushes up to lock back the slide. Cycling by hand felt smoother than before. Looking at cartridges and how close they still were to the nub led me to believe I would have to take more off later.
Anyway, today I did get it out and decided to only put a 50 rd box of WWB through it to eliminate the hand fatigue issues. This pistol is something of a handful to shoot simply because it really isn't much of a handful, if you follow me.
I had zero feeding or ejection issues. Zero.
I had 3 premature lockbacks, all in the last 2 or 3 magazines. I'm not sure if fouling comes into play here, if my hands getting tired had some effect, or it was just coincidence. So more of nub will be filed a few thousandths at a time until I get that cured. Unless they are coming out with an updated slide stop? Anyone know?
So I am still quite optimistic about this pistol. I would prefer that I not have had to do any tuning, but in today's world it really doesn't surprise me. I had to polish the snot out of a Colt Commander XSE when I bought it a few years ago and now it runs like butter.
All in all an enjoyable day. All the more so since I actually got my 77 year old Mom, who as far as I know had never fired a handgun in her life, to shoot my Walther P-22 a little bit. She said she enjoyed it :).
