Wow! That's a debatable topic, but I'll wade into it. I carry Corbon DPX in my PM9. Shoots excellent, great penetration and expansion. Not cheap, but then neither is my life.

No, of course not. Many informed, and otherwise, opinions though.

Gold Dot and HST bonded is popular. Some, like me, still carry HydraShok.

The consensus seems to be that there are many good options for SD 9mm ammo right now. I carry my CM9 loaded with a Georgia Arms +p offering pushing a Speer Gold Dot HP about 1200 fps. Flawless so far after about 50 rounds thru my CM9 and also a few thru my SUB2000. I've been able to keep it stocked at about $22 per 50 from the GA table at the gun shows here in VA.

I carry 124 gr critical defense. That is all I could find in nj... Fml. Good round though.

I'm going to pick up a variety when I go to cabela's next week.

Yes, many reliable SD choices out there. I choose Gold Dot 124 grain +P.

Do you mean 115 gr for the Hornady Critical Defense in 9mm or is their now a 124 gr Critical Defense available? There was info here on a new Hornady offering of a 135 gr (I think) in 9mm called the Critical Duty.

Thanks

There are a lot of great ammo choices available, I think in some cases it comes down to what the gun will feed reliably and maybe brand loyality. I prefer Federal HST or Gold Dot in 147gr or 124+P. JL

I wonder why they didn't/don't make it in 124 gr and perhaps even +P?

Is there a consensus view on 9mm SD ammo for the CM9...???

Yup!! The consensus view is that there is NOT a consensus. Since many rounds are so close in performance the important thing is to carry one of those and have faith that it will work if needed. Just don't even think about it, but know it's good.

Golden Sabers and HST for me in 9mm, but I only have one gun in that caliber. For 40 and 45, I use a lot of Ranger, because I can get a good price on it.

Linc,
THAT was the point of my question. There's a large number of excellent products available to choose from. I'm constantly impressed with the variety of experiences on this forum, and wanted to give a voice to all the options folks have chosen for THEIR own defense.
Personnaly, I'm settling on Federal HST 124's for my CM9.

I have been using 124 gr +p Gold Dots in my CM9.
Same in my PM9, just switched from standard pressure GDs. Had good luck with older Federal Hydra-Shok.

In my PM9, after break-in, I was loading with Black Hills 124 +Ps just like I'd been doing for many years with my Glock 26. Figuring the PM9 being a bit lighter and such I switched to Black Hills 115 EXPs. Recently shooting both out of the PM9 in the same session I noticed no recoil difference or muzzle flip. What I did see was that the 115 brass wasn't flying nearly as far as the 124 +P brass. I think once I shoot up the EXPs I'm switching back to 124 +P.

I like Speer Gold Dots 147g or 124g.... I just get them because they feed reliably and they're cheap enough... $20 for 50 rounds

speer GD is probably the most used brand of ammo on this forum for kahrs. 124 grain +P. Good ammo, used by many LEO.. course as we all know, #1 is RELIABILITY..
