We range officers had a basic firearms training class for women this week at our range. Most had very limited experience with firearms. I have found the ladies pay more attention in the classes we give. Maybe it is because they are not so macho, there expectations are lower. We had a breakout session where we had 50 or so of our own guns on the tables for the ladies to see if something fit them particularly well. My PM9 caught the eye of many of them. One of my students was a 21 yr old about 5'2" and slim build. She did some dry fire exercises with my 640 revolver with Crimson Trace laser grips on it. She could hold rock steady and cycle the trigger with ease. Using my Ruger MKIII hunter (it was pretty) she easily shot a nice tight group. On to my PM9. I explained this gun would produce recoil. Slingshot to chamber the first round. At 28 feet, using a standard bullseye slow fire target, this lady kept 10 out of 15 shots in the black. The other 5 were all in the scoring rings. Can you see the smiles on both of our faces? On the lane next to her was her friend. She was shooting a PM9 with a laser on it. She had 13 in the black with two fliers still in the scoring ring.

A old friend once told me to "fear the woman with a snubble in her hand shooting for the first time. She will hit you between the eyes with the first shot at 50 yds."

I've taught women how to shoot (combat) They will do exactly what you tell them and follow instructions in the field to the letter!

Ahhh, I'm married to her. She will embarass me at the range if I let her go with me.

Men, by and large, don't take direction very well.

I proposed on Christmas. I put an engagement ring in a HUGE box and stuff it with old shoes, a brick and lots of stuff to make it rattle. LOL, it was funny to watch her open that giant box and find all this crap in it, then at the bottom a little tiny gift box wrapped by the store with her engagement ring, when she opened It she gave me a funny look like "what's this supposed to mean" and I got down on one knee and proposed. That way I'll always remember the day I proposed, not that it matters anymore. I was lucky with dates to remember with her, her birthday was a week after mine, and our anniversary was right after her birthday, so I never forgot any of those. Kept me out of trouble for many years.
