I'm window shopping for a new larger caliber handgun and need some opinions. Someone tell me what you have experience with and if it was good, bad, or ugly. My thoughts are along these lines:

* I want all metal. No polymer. Stainless would be nice but not required.
* No larger than a 1911 officers model. I like compacts and sub-compacts.
* If I get something in a .45 I can standardize ammo with what I already own without having to buy .40 cal although for the right pistol I may go with a .40.
* Kahr doesn't make a MK45 or that would take care of my desire.
* It will be mostly for fun/range but if it's small enough and light enough to carry I would at times
* I like DA/SA but either is OK.

I love information so tell me all you know.

Thanks

Thats a tough one. Easy till you said all steel, no polymer. The PM45 is a sweet heart of a little gun.

To me little gun and range fun really don't belong together. A range gun you can go bigger with longer barrels and better accuracy although we know these little Kahrs can be tack drivers in the right hands.

That K40 just might be on the block. I've thought of it a few times but not real hard. I love it, it's a sweet shooter adn I do suffer from seller remorse so I'm still pondering. It don't ride with me often and by my earlier description it's not really a range gun although thats where I play with it so maybe I'm wrong.

There you go. Buy Bawanna's K40. Perfect! And you know it is in good shape and a well cared for gun. You could even work in a pair of Bawanna custom wood grips! Then, get some fine sand paper and some Flitz, and polish the sides of the slide like an Elite.

Gotta tell ya, I love my K40 SS, 400 rounds through her and not so much as a hickup. Great CCW weapon as well, I take it everywhere. In fact I just finsihed cleaning it!!

Sig Sauer is preparing to release a chopped version of their P229 called P224.
Haven't seen in what calibers. But P229 is a 9/357/40 double stack aluminum alloy frame (or stainless), stainless steel slide gun.
So I expect more of the same.
It's likely to have DA/SA and DAK options (maybe SRT too).
Looking like it will have a two finger abbreviated grip for CC like my Glock G27.
I own a P220/45 and a P239/357. Both guns are top quality weapons.

If you want something right now.
And don't mind it being full size service gun.
The P229 is good enough for FBI, Secret Service and many others.
Lot's of different configurations to chose. Not that I ever looked - LOL

I really like those SIG's. I missed a deal at a local gun show on a P220 Elite with rosewood grips in July I think it was. I saw it on Saturday and went home to think about it. On Sunday I was going to go get it but I think that day some other junk came up and I missed going back to the show. They are on my option list.

I am going to suggest a Kimber Ultra CDP II. I have had mine for over four years and it works with anything I can handload. Very accurate and relatively light weight due to alloy frame. 7 round +1 mags available. My big bore carry gun of choice.
