Ladies and gentleman, let me introduce my 'new to me' Kahr MK9.

I do have one question, it has a GCXXXX serial number - from what I can tell that could indicated it's an Elite model, is that correct?

I believe it should say elite on the slide if it is an elite

Dang! Thunder is fast as lightning! I was just reading Popeye's post on the "Would you" thread and—BAMM!—here he is showing off a new gun! :2eek:

That's pretty, Thunder! :cheer2: Now, you can start looking at some customization so that it looks like this:

Nice. To my understanding there was an early GA series and the newer GC series. No others in the mix.
Minutes ago your were contemplating trading your PM9 for a K9 and now a MK9 jumps into your life. What's going on with you?

Called the local Gander Mountain and asked if they had one, they said they had a used one for a price i didn't believe.

Well, it's now mine. :)

Yeah, James still has that two tone holster molded for an MK9, like the one he did for me and my CM9, available for $75 shipped: http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=8898&highlight=MK9%2C+holster. (http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=8898&highlight=MK9%2C+holster)

Thunder, you will love that holster! Not just the fit and the comfort wearing it, but also looking at it, admiring the beautiful finishing touches such as the edges, the molding around the trigger guard, the perfect hand stitching, the quality of the Herman Oak leather. And knowing how little you paid for it will really make you smile from ear to ear. :D You know you have to have a premium work of holster art like that to put that gorgeous MK9 in! And the 2 wide spaced snap loops will deal with the weight of that steel gun effortlessly. Go for it! :)

Yeah, unfortunately I'm realizing my new Galco leather holster loosened up quite a bit and oddly enough my MK9 is thinner than my PM9.

Right now it's sitting all comfy and warm in my Smartcarry however. Might have to give Garrett's a shout and talk to them about an OWB Silent Thunder for it, which I should have done in the first place. Might get the paddle mount option, being a lefty I think that would work out well, so long as it holds tight against the body.

Don't like the holster from James? Don't like it two tone? Oh! That's right. You're a lefty, so his won't fit, but his turnaround is around 2 weeks. Here is mine -

For a very versatile paddle holster, I am planning to get the Stoner Paddle (http://www.stonerholsters.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=56). Herman Oak leather, suede lined, cant adjustable 20% in either direction so you can wear it anywhere on your waist, even cross draw, and an absolutely fabulous price: $60!

Yeah, I've seen that one... could say the same about belt loops with buttons, Remora no-clip holsters, or heck - even a Smartcarry of someone knows you're wearing one.

It's not that, I just really like Garrett's work and they are great people. Not saying James' isn't great stuff, that's a beautiful holster.

I think the leather lined kydex just trips my trigger... best of both worlds that caters to fit, draw, support, rigidity and comfort.

Each to his own. I have my PJ IWB holster and didn't need another one. But when I looked at the $150 prices and 6 month waits for comparable holsters, I knew I had to have the holster from James. It is so beautiful and well done that it is also like having a work of art! So, I have the best of both worlds: leather and kydex!

Here is a tip to get your leather holster tight again... I dont believe Galco seals the insides for there holsters, so put your hand at the bottom fill it through the top (mouth) with water and let it run through for about 5-8 seconds. this should be enough to absorb a considerable amount of water..

At this point try not to bend it in any way as it may deform the holster. turn on your oven to its lowest tempature, some of them only go to 170, if this is the case hit start, set the holster in the oven on the rack, put the timer on 20 minutes and pull it after 20 minutes and let it dry for the rest of the day.

This should shrink the holster.
