Stopped in the local shop on the way to work this morning and something caught my eye. I didn't even know they were being imported yet. I haven't had a chance to break it down and clean it yet but figured I'd post some pictures since there aren't many out there yet.
It's roughly the same size as a Kahr CW9. I don't own one but, size wise, it compared very favorably to the one at the shop this morning. It appears to be well built and is very solid. It has a lot of "points" features that I could live without including mag disconnect and key lock. I'll investigate these and see what I can do after I shoot a few hundred rounds through it. I like the feel and weight and can't wait to put some down range this week.

Hmm. A couple of oz heavier, less than 1/2" longer and taller, but 8+1 capacity, which is impressive. Ambiextrous mag release, which I like. 3 dot sights. A nice looking gun. Short reset DAO trigger. Let us know how the trigger feels, the weight of it, the reset, how it is on double taps and rapid fire.
Does it come with 2 mags? I can't find it for sale in Google search at all. How did your LGS get their hands on one?

I had a Bersa Thund .380 and I'd still have it if I didn't buy the PM9. From my experience with the Bersa is there a very nice gun with good fit and finish for the money. I think the Bersa's are one of the best kept secrets in the gun world. They seem to have a quite loyal following.

I've only handled Bersas in the GS, but was immediately impressed with the quality build, solidness and smooth trigger action.

WOW where ya gonna find a gun like that for that kind of money. Can't wait to hear how that little beauty shoots. Just a guess but it appears to be the size of a Walther PPS-9

It is just about exactly the same size as the PPS. I'll bet it will fit in the same holsters.

My friend told me his CC class instructor warned the class to stay away from Bersa pistols as the metal they used wasn't up to par. I bet he didn't make any friends at the gun shop/indoor range he was working at as they have Bersa's for sale.
I have no experience with them myself, and I've never heard anything like that before about them. I guess the instructor had a bad experience with one and it biased him against their pistols. I have noticed they are usually at the lower end of the price range per caliber. Makes a person wonder why. Not picking a fight, simply relaying a message. Like I say, I have no experience with them, nor have I heard of any Kabooms with one, other than that instructor.

Frank, is it 7+1 or 8+1? Bud's and everyone else are saying 7+1, but Bersa says 8+1.

I just loaded up 8 rounds in each magazine. There are 7 witness holes + the one sticking out of the mag.

Congrats Frank. I was reading about these on BT yesterday. Does yours also have the 3lb. trigger that Pond Scum reported?
I'm seriously torn here as a PPS was in my future, but hard to turn down a $200 savings on a similar size pistol from another reliable manufacturer.

I think just because Bersa's are inexpensive people seem to think that means cheap,as in cheaply made. I can say first hand I do not believe for one minute that the Bersa Thunder satin nickle .380 I had was a cheaply made pistol. Not by a long shot. The fit and finish was amazing for the price they wanted for it. You'll never hear me say a bad word about them. Only reason I still do not have it is a friend who loved that Bersa from the minute he saw it offed me $70 plus and slightly used 1981 circa Marlin 30/30 leveraction that layed in the box under the bed for 25+ years, that is in mint condition. I had just gotten my PM9 and didn't carry the Bersa .380 much anymore so it had to go for that deal. Still wish I had it sometimes, that is until I look at that Marlin. :D

The trigger isn't any easier than my Glocks and there is no way it is 3lbs. It is a short reset though and by short, I mean short. Good gosh
.. I absolutely love this gun.

Frank, the BP9 is only my second striker fired pistol and I am starting to love it. The trigger took some getting used to for me .... but I was able to get some pretty good groups after a few mags. I didn't measure the trigger when I first got the gun but it wasn't 3 lbs. I gave it a through cleaning and applied KG10 dry moly liberally to the moving parts and when I measured it .... voila, 3 lbs. Very consistent .... all 10 readings were between 2 lbs 15 oz and 3 lbs 2 oz.
Here is a link to my "report" over at Bersa Chat with a few more details.

For the record I am a fan of Bersa's ..... I own over a dozen of them. I prefer hammer guns over striker fired guns but since I like Bersa's I thought I would give the BP9 a try and I'm really glad I bought it. Obviously I believe the quality of them is very good or I wouldn't keep buying them!

Good pics and comparisons, Pondy. Interesting gun, but a 3 lb trigger and no safety?! Dang, that sounds dangerous!

I snapped a few pictures of my new Bersa BP9cc alongside my PF9. The BP9 is definitely larger and is more akin to a Walther PPS than a PF9 in terms of size. This should give you a good idea of how they stack up for carry.

I had a couple of Bersa's over the years, good guns, but then the ammo shortage hit, and I sold them. Never looked back either. I did finally hear on the news that some one died from getting shot with a 380 (multiple shooting in a nearby town, think Desoto), first I'd ever heard of some one dying on scene from one. I'm thinking the scrote shooter was a good shot or at least made them count.

Frank, where is the range report on this fine gun? Also, I mentioned something I read about the trigger being 3 lb, and how dangerous that sounds with no safety. Am I wrong? What is the trigger like: poundage, length of pull, reset?

No, I got away from 380, and now am really glad I did. The great ammo shortage caused me to rethink some things, and the 380 just ain't there. Plus there is now way in all Hell that I will pay $50+ for a box of range fodder, and $85+ for the god stuff when it dried up. 40 is easy to find and remained cheap. I have no regrets. BTW it sounds like an interesting story about that up there. We won't laugh too hard .

The trigger rocks or pivots on the lower pin before it begins to travel. This is part of the trigger safety and takes up 5mm before it finishes it's sweep. After that, the trigger itself travels an additional 5mm before it breaks. So, the total from rest to bang is around 10mm. As for the trigger lbs, according to my fish scale the pull comes in at just about 4.2lbs.
Maybe this will help as far as travel. Sorry it's not the best quality but you get the idea.

Clever! So, lighter but similar to the Kahr in travel. And its not a pocket gun, so proper holstering and good trigger finger placement should suffice to avoid ADs. Thanks.

Well, it's been 1 month now and I have decided that this is not the gun for me. I have decided that, until there is a way to stiffen up the trigger a few lbs, and get rid of the horrible grit in the trigger I am going to shelve the gun. After 500 rounds there is no consistent stopping point that I can feel before the trigger breaks and the light trigger pull makes this dangerous for defensive use in my opinion. Unfortunately, my trigger is getting worse. I thought I had it licked but the initial grit is back with a vengeance. It moves as well. It makes it difficult to make slow, controlled shots. You begin pulling on the incredibly light trigger only to feel grit and have it hang on said grit. If you apply more pressure it may cause you to fire the gun unintentionally. What use is a short reset trigger if you are forced to shoot it like a Keltec? They need a smaller diameter spring with delrin cups instead of the current setup. I can her some of that grit out with grease but then the trigger drops to something akin to 3# and eventually the spring wipes the grease away and starts grinding again. Very frustrating.
Another major issue to me is the mag disconnect. You have to pull the trigger to remove the slide. You can't pull the trigger without a magazine. That means to clean the gun you have to clear it, empty the mag, put it back in, pull the trigger. Somebody, somewhere will put a loaded mag in, drop the slide and pull the trigger. It will happen.
While I wish my MK9 had a short reset trigger, I think the overall package is better with the Elite trigger, no safety, lock or mag disconnect.

Sorry you are disappointed with it, Frank. Have you contacted their CS and detailed all of these issues with them? It is a brand new gun and every one of those issues sound like something they should fix. Send it back and let their gunsmith massage it. Ask them for a stronger striker and/or trigger spring. See what they can do. Approach with a positive tone, like a willing beta tester who wants to help them improve the product. You may be pleasantly surprised.

I can see the problem and it is a design flaw. The striker spring is scrubbing the wall of the striker. It will need cups instead.
