I sent my S&W 1911 to Novaks in Parkersburg WV. last Saturday 11-18-11 to have them replace the factory trigger which was so loose in the frame that it rattled like bb's in a tin can...I like everything else about the pistol except for that so I first sent it back unfired to S&W who returned it to me without doing anything with a letter saying no trouble found, trigger is within specs...

Got a call this morning from Matthew at Novaks saying he had finished hand fitting an aftermarket trigger, smoothed the action and adjusted the slide safety lever and was boxing the gun up to ship and it should show up tomorrow on my door step...I was like WOW!!! I was thinking maybe next month or something and never dreamed of a turn around that fast...

Matthew agreed that the factory trigger on this gun was one of the worst fitting ones he had seen to date and said they get a lot of S&W 1911 pistols with this issue due to them not taking the time to fit it properly and do it right in order to be able to sell at a competitive price...(This was the gun I bought at Bass Pro Shop and they refused to remove the store trigger lock inside the building or I wouldn't have bought this pistol)...

I have sent several pistols to Novaks for night sights before and they have always done a great job for a good price with fast return times...If you need night sights or 1911 work I would highly recommend Novaks...Most times you hear people complain about poor customer service so I just wanted to put in a good word for them since they treated me so good once again....

I think I'd have refused to buy it if I couldnt dry fire it. The crisp trigger is one of the things that makes the 1911 a great gun. I've never heard of such a thing as not removing a trigger lock to test a gun's trigger, Maybe they knew it had problems and that's why they wouldnt let you dry fire it.

Looking back I should have walked away or bought somewhere else and you can bet Bass Pro Shop won't ever see another Lincoln penny from me ever again... This gun was to replace the S&W 1911 that was stolen and that pistol had a nice tight well fitting trigger so I assumed (you know what that can mean) that the new one would be the same but as I found out in the parking lot it wasn't...

The guns trigger function and pull was fine and it had a pretty nice break but the problem was the trigger itself was very poorly fitted in the frame and rattled ...From what I have read the new S&W E-series 1911 pistols have hand fitted and adjustable triggers but cost about $500.00 more that what I paid for the standard model...

I did learn a lesson and will never buy a gun I can't dry fire first and look over real good before the bucks hit the counter...This is also the reason I will never buy a gun from an internet company unless they have a full return policy if not satisfied....Bass Pro Shop wouldn't even talk to me about a refund or replacement gun and we have since parted ways...Live and learn I suppose...

While HK provides parts and excellent service on my 31 year old P7, SIG has failed me twice by failing to support their products which are 1 and 3 years old respectively.

First case, bought a P238 bundled with a CT laser. The gun was replaced by SIG but it came back with an inferior laser. The one I bought was activated by a switch on the front strap, meaning it was on as soon as I had a shooting grip. The replacement requires me to reach for a botton on the side of the laser. SIG wouldn't provide the CT I paid for..."We don't use that vendor anymore".

Second case today, I received a set of replacement grips under warranty for a 1911 RCS WHICH CAME WITH THIN GRIPS. The replacements are not thin and the part number is no longer active in their system. "You can probably buy some aftermarket thin grips".

Contrast this to HK CS/ they called me upon receiving my P7 slide. They reinstalled my drop safety, cleaned my extrator, check out the functions and discovered a small piece broken off my firing pin collar. All the labor is free. The new part needed costs $69-77 dollars online at third parties. He checked .His price is $62 which he then reduced to $50. This gun is NOT under warranty. HK is sending it back at their expense. This is Customer Service. SIG? Planned obsolescense.
