PM9 Mag unlocking

PM9 Mag. Unlocking.
Hi new to forum and impressed with the wealth of knowledge here. I own P380,PM9, PM40, PM45 and just got CW9. For several yrs. I have carried PM40CT and depending on weather Kimber Ultra Crimson 45, occasionally PM9CT as BU in Kangaroo Carry rig. I just turned 69years old and made the decision that the PM40 was getting a little hard to control rapid fire and decided to put it away and go strictly with the 9mm. Several times carrying the PM9 in recluse pocket holster and in kangaroo the mag has unlocked and I kind of charged it off to my left handed handling of the gun. Last week I bought CW9 to play around with and noticed that the mag release is twice as hard to push as PM9 and now that I realized that so are the rest of my Kahrs. I just ordered Mag. catch and spring but do not see how the old ones could be bad they look good. Has any one else had this problem or any suggestions. Sorry to be so long winded but could not figure how to condense and tell story. Thanks kahrnut1:confused:

Kahrnut, there is a thread where the guy found that the mag release spring was in the wrong position. Take a tactical light and have a look at it inside the mag well. Might be as simple as using a small screw driver to reposition the spring.

thanks for reply. the spring is hooked in notch of catch and is snug in hole in frame. since the spring is round rod there does not seem to be any way of bending it that would not be visible. i have not tried to remove it waiting for new parts but it appears to be exactly like my other kahrs same diameter spring and same position but with 1/2 the strenght thanks

That's weird. Mine is VERY stiff. Have to hit it sometimes to release the mag. I wish it were lighter and hope it will loosen up with use.

I think u origihal mag spring is just bad, not much u can do other than getting a new one and I would have said had u called kahr they would have gladly went you the spring and catch nc to help u along. It is a simnple thing to take out and I think u already know that. Thatwill take care of ur issue. U might also have had a mag catch slightly out of spec to and not fully goinginto the magcut out and there for the spring itself didn't need alot of pressure to release it. U did the right thing.

I carry my PM9 in a desantis front pocket and have for over 5years in tight jeans and I have never had it pop out one time with me.

wonb't the spring rod doesn't act like a coiled sprng. I think ur better off with it stiff than loose.

At least my girlfriend used to tell me that. I am sure she was referring tomy magazine sping to:D

thanks for the replys i wanted to check with the experts rather than find out i've been a idiot again. you guys do a great job. your combined knowledge is much greaster than what is availible from a CS thats been doing this a few months.
