I was amazed at how much oil and crap was in this gun from the factory so I broke it down and clean/lubed it according to the guide on this forum and put on some gloves and racked it a good 200 times then repeated the cleaning/lubing.

I also sanded down the mag follower according to the guide in the Tech forum so hopefully I don't have any issues at the range. It seems like its loosened up a little now. I already ordered the talon rubber grip tape and pearce grip extensions

**Update 11/27**
I went to the range and put around ~160rd of federal through it and had 2 FTE's that I think were induced by my grip. One was wedged in there bad enough that I had to break down the gun. I'm not sure how I feel about the Pearce grip but I'm leaning towards removing it.

So far I'm happy. Its MUCH easier to shoot than that LCP. They're not even comparable really. Hopefully I don't have anymore issues with it.

Congratulations!

Can't wait to hear the follow-up report... sounds like you might have a shooter there. :)

look at the gap at the back of that Smith M&P and now compare it to his cm9 gap at the back of his photo to.l both laying side by side sure shows that this gap thing that we have seen some here ask ab outon thier kahrs is just something to not worry about. Evidently Smith doesn't. It is the way it is..:19:

Well, regarding the gap between the rear of the slide and the frame.........I actually had to sand down the polymer on the Kahr because there was a chunk of plastic sticking out after I racked the slide a few times, if you look closely in the pics you can tell that the plastic is a little chewed up.

Also, in this pic, you can see that the plastic on the frame doesn't sit flush with the rear of the slide, it sticks out. Since these pics I sanded down that portion a bit so it looks/feels much better.

My M&P has a gap back there but it's never had a failure, doesn't require a "break in period", and doesn't produce chunks of plastic after shooting. Just sayin' ;)

They're both apples and oranges but I took the pics to compare the size of both for some guys on another forum.

Congrats on the new purchase. I think you will be really happy with how well the CM9 performs once she is broken in and the size makes it so easy to carry.

For a better grip, I suggest Talon grips http://talongungrips.com/ they are inexpensive and really give you a tight grip.

It's just a little over molding you are seeing at the rear of the frame. It's no big deal. Just carefully remove it if it bothers you. As far as the comment about the Smith & Wesson not requiring a break in period is incorrect. ALL autos require a break in period. At least Kahr is honest and open about it. Trust me Smith & Wessons have their problems as well. I've owned many of them and I have sent a many of Smiths back for repairs. My latest Smith purchase, an airweight .357 had a problem that had to be corrected by the factory. The blast shield located above the forcing cone started walking out during firing. All companies have problems here and there. Kahrs are well built and they make great small guns in large calibers that some companies are afraid to attempt to produce. Give your Kahr a chance. You will come to appreciate and love it.

Well if you read what I wrote, I already sanded it down :)

I'm far from tossing this gun in drawer. It had some failures but they could've been caused by my grip. I'm just a little annoyed that I've had to work on it already to get it to feed/function better. Still love it so far, its just a little more needy than I'm used to

Congrats on that CM9. Mine has been flawless. I understand the need for the pearce grip extension but if you ever have any fail to feed issues you might try shooting without it.

I have the Hogue Handall Jr. on my CM9 and it works well if you IWB carry for providing more grip. If I pocket carry it does make it harder to get out of the pocket though so it has to be taken off then.

guns require a break in, if one thinks never shooting a gun to test for reliabiloity is not6 breakiung it in, then it again is in the eyes of the beholder. My PM9 ever has faltered since I bought it, but does that not mean that rounds down range did not give it bettrer reliability???

I break in all my guns because I'd never carry something that didn't shoot several hundred rounds without any failures. Kahr's are more notorious for having failures in the first couple of hundred rounds, its all over this website! I knew this going in so I won't be concerned unless it doesn't stop.

u mean, u dare say that even Smiths can give issues. Blashphemy, only kahrs give issues:der::der:

probablay the next damn thing someone is going to post here is that GLOCKS give issues to:banplease:

I don't know why you're getting so defensive. I'm not an idiot, I know S&W has had their issues. The M&P had problems when it first came out as well. My M&P has been flawless (just like your PM9 has been flawless for you.) thats all I stated.

I haven't even been complaining about my Kahr, you all just saw me state that I had a couple of FTE's and now you think I'm dogging on Kahr? Hell I did my research and I was expecting some failures and even stated that they could've just been caused by my grip.

Obviously I'm not completely brand loyal. I just call it like I see it.

If I had to randomly pick a pistol out if a pile if guns and carry it without any test fires or break-in... Kahr would be way down the list.
And I base my opinion on owning multiple Kahrs (and returning 50% of them for serious issues, "out if spec slides" on two guns).
I have zero faith in a Kahr until a minimum if 500 rounds go downrange.
I'd carry an unfired H&K P2000Sk with no reservations.
I like Kahrs but a Reagan quote sums them up perfectly "trust but verify".

I see nothing wrong in that comment... i TRUST but I verify every gun that I own. Kahr would not be my first choice either as much as I love Rugers, I stillhave in the back of my mind the SR9 and LCP recalls..

I did the same thing. I took some files and paper to mine. You do lose the factory texture, but ways around that. Some of us look at guns as merely tools, others are nuts wanting a gun to look good as well. I like how mine came out. Fit and finish wise, these really aren't the BMW of guns, in fact the back end polymer and mags look pretty sloppy. They do clean up pretty well and are reliable as heck once they are broken in.

Yep, mine looks just like yours now. Its weird that there is a different texture right there, it must be something from the manufacturing process since its on both of our guns.
