I hear the term "truck gun" What goes with a '53 Chevy with a '62 283?

Either would go great in a back window rack.

I like that truck a lot, congrats on owning it:). I'd stick an H&R Topper 12 ga. in the window rack and a 1911 (or S&W model 10) in the glove box.

Rossi Ranch Hand (45 Colt of course) in the back window. Windows pretty small. And a Schofield 45 Colt of course in the jockey box.
Love the truck.

Put in something cheap because it will be gone the first time you park it on the street after dark.;)

Course so would the truck, so I'd never leave it unattended outside a secure garage, hopefully climate controlled. That's a piece of history right there.

very nice!
I had a '52 Chevy with a flat head six back in '73. When I got it, every piece of glass was cracked, except for the "curves". I think I replaced all the flat glass for about 50 bucks, built wood door panels, rewired most of it, and had a ball driving it. By mid '74 I needed cash, and let it go for $400. That hurt, but not as bad as having my '57 Chevy coupe T-bone totaled by an old lady in 1970.
What's your plans for finishing that beauty?

Just noticed the question. I think the answer is bawanna!
Finished, it looks done to me. I'm in love.
I had a flat head 52 Dodge, then a 58 and 59 Chevy's, both started out as 6's but ended up with 327's. Aww those were the days.
I had a 53 Chevy 1 ton flatbed that stayed a 6, heck of a truck that was. You could haul the world on that bad boy and wouldn't sag a bit.

That's what I was gonnna suggest for a shotgun. Here's mine (19" bbl, bead front sight) that rode in a floor rack behind the seat in my lil' S-10 truck for years:

That is one fine-lookin' truck. My brother had a really clean 5-window Chevy with a new 6 cylinder engine when he was living in Louisiana. He sold it before moving back to Austin in 1989 - he took $1,700 for it (and never told me he wwas going to sell the thing  ).

Thats a nice ride there guy....I gotta go with a short barrel 12 gauge side by side coach gun in that back window....I don't know if you watch "Trucks" TV show which comes on Saturday and again on Sunday with a repeat at 11:00 am on the Spike Network in my area and is part of the PowerBlock TV series but they did a build they called project ClasSix on a truck just like yours....(Google Trucks TV show-episodes and you can watch on line)
They rebuilt a Blue Flame 6 cylinder up with some high performance parts and rebuilt everything else on the truck to modern specs so it would ride, steer and stop like a brand new one....Those old trucks no matter what the make will always be a special vehicle now that almost every other car and truck on the road looks like it came out of a Jello mold...Good luck with your rebuild, looks like you already got a great start!!!...

Come on guys, the obvious choice would be a gun that itself was introduced in 53. Like the Single-Six , the first Ruger SA revolver.
You have the keep the classics theme.

Here's my "climate controlled" 1914 garage. It's controlled by the outside climate.
Cold in winter, hot in summer. Guys, thanks for the positive comments about the truck. It's a work in progress and has a way to go.

xaircav, I have to agee with popeye, except I would go for both.
Also, don't know how you can call that a truck, not one speck of mud on it. Trucks are meant to get dirty, think that was one of the requirements for being able to buy one.
In this case I think we'll let you slide, suspect it does have some mud in its past. Time to just be viewed. =>

I'm thinking S&W Model 12 or Colt MK4 Series 70

I agree with those who have suggested the 30/30 lver action, upside down in a window rack perfect. The handgun I suggest is a Browning Hi-Power. Classic gun for the classic ride.
