Not too bad for a start. I don't know that I would come out guns blazing so soon, but that's just me. Lead them a bit, set the hook then before they know what hit them, it's game over they've read too far to put it down. I would also take out the opinion "with a bon-a-fide right to carry..." I would also present one side then counter with the pro-gun evidence, and break it up so that again it's not so fact heavy your audience loses the paper. (Always target your audience) Just me and a different style of writing though. This weekend remind me and I'll work with you via PM if you want.
