Can't beat a good 1911 trigger

I love the Sig DA/SA combo, but I've spent a lot of time on that trigger.

If it were DAO with the Sig's DA pull only, I wouldn't like it as much! :)

I also really like my XDm's trigger pull.

For defense/carry, clean 1911 single action at over 5#

The best trigger I've ever used extensively is on the Colt Woodsman Match Target. It is perfection.

Other very good triggers are;
HK match trigger found on certain USP models. It is a very nice DA/SA. Like glass.
The HK P7 trigger is a nice SA striker fired example, light crisp with a short take up.

I voted for the 1911 trigger because it was one of the choices - and a good choice - but to be more specific, the triggers I like best are always SA triggers (which was not a choice), and specifically I really like the ones on my .22s including my Browning BuckMark and Beretta 87 Target.

Obviously these are really different guns from those used for EDC or SD, but I always feel good when I squeeze one of them.

I am still trying - really hard - to like my MK9 Elite trigger. But then, I didn't like whisky for a long time, either.

You need to try a PARA if you haven't, better than the Woodsman I had.

Yup that gets my vote, but the SA/DA trigger on my CZ 75b isn't far behind.

Gonna have to agree with this one but the DA on my CZ is not my favorite.:19:

Agree in general. Don't know about the CZ, but it's hard to imagine *any* DA trigger being a "favorite" even if it serves a purpose.

I don't have a favorite type but currently my favorite trigger is on either of my Ruger SP101s with the Wollf spring kit.. for that matter my GP 100 with the Wollf springs is quite nice as well.

The SA trigger on my S&W K38, a crisp 2 lbs.
The trigger on my High Standard Supermatic Trophy, also a crisp 2 lbs.

Have to agree the DA part of the CZ75b trigger is not my favorite either but it serves a purpose. I have to say though the SA portion is right up there with the 1911. I believe it less # pull and allot smoother than the trigger on the 45 caliber Springer Champion I had.

SA 1911 style for shooting at the range. DAO for every day carry. Kahr has one of the best DA trigger I have ever shot for a semi-auto.

I voted "Other" cause for me it's the DA/SA trigger on a S&W revolver that does it. My 586 & 686+ feel great and produce good shooting!

The Kahr CW9 trigger is growing on me and I am getting better at it. At 15 yds however in qualifying there were 7 or 8 shots pulled out to the 8 ring and a couple to the 7 ring on a standard silhouette. I know, I know - practice..

Does anyone else think that the Kahr trigger has a little more "curve" to it than necessary?

You didn't specify whether for target shooting or SD, so I picked the Kahr for SD.

For target shooting hard to beat my S&W 629 shooting SA, you thinking about pulling the trigger and it fires. The Dan Wesson's are like that too. For a Semi a crisp 1911 at 4 lbs is hard to beat.

TexasRedLV, haven't run across you before, welcome to the forum. I checked the curve on my CW45 trigger against a Beretta and a Dan Wesson Trigger, the curve was about the same on all 3. The Kahr trigger may be canted forward a little more than the others, but the curve is about the same.

I voted DA/SA because I've been shooting SIGs for over 30 years, and my favorite SIGS, HK's, and S&W's have that trigger. I've been shooting 1911's even longer so a 'good' SAO would be second. I normally don't care for DAO, because I prefer a manual safety, and a short light trigger, but Kahrs aren't too bad.

You might not believe this and think I'm :der: and I can't say I'd blame you for thinking that way,but the trigger on my RIA GI 1911 is the best SA trigger straight out of the box trigger I've ever felt in a gun in it's price range and costing twice as much. I believe part of the reason for being so is there is no firing pin safety to contend with. Has about an 1/8th of an inch take up then a nice crisp break. I have to admit when I bought the gun I could not believe the trigger and it just seems to get better with age. It's just one of those guns you pick up and shoot and the only thing you can say is OH YEA. JMB would be proud of the job RIA's did with his creation. If you like 1911's a don't have a ton of money to spend on one you might want to take a look at a RIA's. The gun is just pure fun as you can get bare bones 1911. It's definately one of my favorite guns.

I have five 1911's, a C3, STI, Kimber, Springfield, and a Detonics. The SIG has the lightest, shortest trigger of the bunch.

Thetmanski, thanks for the welcome and the comparison info. I read and lurk often but post little..

It might just be me, or maybe it does have something to do with the cant as you suggest, but I seem to shoot the Kahr better using just the pad of my finger and trying to pull straight back and through the break. Maybe this is the way you're supposed to do it but with most of my other pistols it seems I use more finger.

I don't really know, maybe it's just something I'm trying to get used to since the CW is my only striker fired pistol. When I do my part though I know she's damned accurate!

Can't beat a good 1911 trigger

Ditto, but the DA trigger on my S&W K-38 is also hard to beat. Kahr has the best trigger on a defensive pocket carry nine.

I went with the DA/SA because I am a big Sig fan.

Voted DAO. Only because I am so used to it as I carry a Sig P229 DAK as my duty weapon and have proven to be very effective with it over and over during our practical qualifications. Would love to buy one for myself someday.

my H&K LEM trigger with the light springs is the best i've ever shot for self defense purposes. the 1911s i've fired have been slightly more accurate, but in a self defense situation, i wouldnt want such a light, hair trigger under my possibly shaky, adrenaline filled fingers.

with the lem, it's a long DAO like a kahr, but only has about a 1 pound slack take up back to the breaking point. there, you have what is basically a 5 pound single action trigger. the reset requires about 1/4 of the pull to be let out. i've shot it a lot in IDPA, and do very quick doubletaps with it. it's long enough to be safe to keep your finger on the trigger in a self defense situation where you are perhaps not QUITE ready to shoot yet, but need to be ready to do so, but if you want pinpoint accuracy with it, you can do that too, by staging the trigger. if i could, i would run the LEM on my kahrs.

I've been hesitating to answer this one.
It's a simple question, but loaded still.

Favorite over all trigger?
SD trigger?
Target trigger?
Slow fire trigger
Double tap trigger?
I could go on...

I've got DAO and DA/SA guns.
Auto/revolver platforms.
Hammer/striker actions.
(Haven't tried SRT or DAK, yet)
I love all of them...

Really can't answer this question.
It's like picking between blondes, brunettes or redheads?
Or Asian, Latin or European girls?

Are you kidding me?
I choose ALL.
Viva la deliverance

You had me until you got to the women. My shrink says I have a (physical) mold. Once you fit it in, you must be perfect. I keep marrying blondes with blue eyes. When I tried to diversify, my (ex) wives got mad. Go figure.

Best pistol trigger I have owned was that of the Ruger SR9c. They really improved them from the earlier SR9's. Way better than a glock. Crisp with no crunch or sponge and about 5 lb.

That gun really needs a safety.

Now for long rifles, that's another story. Savage's accutrigger is really phenominal and set the bar for all triggers.

But ALL my girlfriends, wives, strippers... have been brunettes.
Just have a thing for them...

Depends on the day and what I'm doing. I DO like them all, though I have had some that needed some love and a lot of work. Guns and women.
