View Full Version : Guns I want to fondle...or more (now prioritized)

Made a short mental list (still young enough to keep it in my head rather than on paper) of guns I want to check out and possibly buy. At the least, I'd like to shoot them:
1. Dan Wesson CBOB
2. S&W 1911SC E series
3. Ruger SR1911
4. Beretta Nano
5. S&W 3913
6. Kimber Solo
7. Kimber 4.25' carry model of some kind, .45 ACP
8. Ruger LCR w/ Hogue grip and XS Big Dot
9. S&W 442 or 642
10. Steyr M9A1 in 9mm
What are your daydreams?

I only have one on your list, the S&W 642.

I don't have a list, Triggerman, but if I did, I only saw one on yours that would be on mine - the first one. I already have the LCP. The 3913's are nice, but I don't do 9mm anymore. Now a 4513, but wait, I already have a 457S which is almost the same gun.

Sig P220 Elite stainless with rosewood grips
CZ-75B Stainless. I should have bought one but bought another gun when I had the money. Stupid me. But they didn't have the stainless that I wanted at the time.
Every sub-compact in every caliber imaginable. I just like those things.
Oh, I also want Free ammo for life for anything I buy. I'll do the right thing and pick up all my spent brass and donate it to charity.

Trigger man- i always wanted a 3913 too. Call me girlie but i would love to find the ladysmith model. It would go great with my 908.
Also on my list would be:
Rorbaugh R9 (sorry kahr)
Kahr pm45
S&w chiefs special (45)
S&w m60 stainless
Colt New Agent 45
Precision Small Arms 25 auto

Triggerman,
I am quite sure when the time comes that you will realy like the Kimber Solo and any Kimber carry pistols. I have two, a Ulra Raptor carry piece and a Pro Raptor steel 4" and love them both.
I can't shoot the 3" shorty nearly as well as the all steel 4" but it is sure easy to carry at 23.5 oz's.

As to the Ruger 1911 it is nice but after all it is just another 1911 and nothing special. It is not the magic elixer too many folks think it is.
Here's my list, no really priority
S&W M&P.40 compact
Kahr PM45
Ruger SR1911
Sig P224
Sig P938
Sig P290
Keltec Shotgun
Build my own AR :)
I'll likely buy the M&P Compact next, then the Shotgun or AR.

That's odd, Kayl. I went through my pistols last night trying to decide what I would sell if I find another gun I want. The only one I could come up with is the first one on your list, a Compact M&P 40. It's not a bad gun at all - in fact it's very accurate and has been totally reliable. It's just that [1] I don't like black guns, [2] it's a 40 and I prefer 45, and [3] I have 5 other guns about the same size and weight and 4 of them are 45's. The 5th is the CW40 and I would rather carry it than the M&P.

The outstanding pics already posted on this thread prove that we're all attracted by the LOOKS of a gun first, then we fall in love with that gun if it performs as good as it looks.

Me too. My local dealer is close with KT, and his order of 35 should be one of the first commercial (non-LEO) orders they ship. I'm 12th in line.
That is definitely a "must fondle/must own" gun.
I dont think we'll see it before Q2 '12 the way its looking.... having spoken to them, and also getting reliable snippets here and there.
Couple of other "would love to fondle" guns...
.45acp Luger prototype
.45acp Savage prototype
.45acp P7 prototype
All three exist in at least one specimen.... be a blast to try.
After that... the Barrett Light-50 would be something to try.
And, a Ruger Red Label, 20ga, English stock, with 26" tubes would be a nice thing to have in the arsenal.

I posted my list (http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=9530) a couple of weeks ago in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.
It's still pretty much up to date, although an acquaintance of mine was recently talking up his FN FiveSeven. Not a particularly attractive-looking gun; I'm not a fan of "plastic" guns; it's quite pricey; and I'm loath to add another caliber of ammo to my inventory, but it's different enough that I would at least like to try one out some time. Anyone ever shot one?

One of the guys here has one and another is getting one. Your right in that it is not a pretty gun. It is amazing to have 20 rounds in the magazine and it's a tack driver with zero recoil. Very sweet shooting. Very light even with 20 rounds in the handle.
The killer is the ammo is difficult to find at least in my area and the stuff that really makes it worthwhile is extremely difficult to find and technically for LE only. It's very expensive as well.
They actually considered it as a duty weapon here but it was totally unrealistic due to the initial cost of the gun plus the ammo and availability.
For a cop gun I think it's too delicate and complicated. For a personal gun it would be not bad. It isn't high on my want list but at the same time I wouldn't mind having one.
I hope St Nick does ya right, I put in a good word for ya but I'm not sure it will do much good. He skipped right over my house last 3 years running but I might have been naughty, maybe.

Hmmmm. I think the SR1911 would be my next buy. I have one here in my bedroom, still in the box. My wife's sis had me buy it for my bro-in-law for Christmas since they are hard to come by and I actually found one, and it's parked here till then. Maybe I should be a good bro-in-law and break it in for him!!!
For me:
1. SR1911
2. A good lever gun, like a pre-60 Win 94 30-30
3. Ruger Mark III .22 in ss
Honestly, I have most of my firearm needs covered. Anything else is on the overkill list. I need a safe more.

I guess I'll start with a pre-lock S&W 686, and 617.
Bill Wilson and a Les Baer custom .45's
A Glock 21 so I can see what "Glock Perfection" is.
Colt Python
H&K USP
Sig 226
Luger
Boberg Arms XR9S
So many guns, so little money. :(

Hmmm, that pair is on my list, too. I really like the idea of two nearly-identical packages in the two calibers. I've shot the 686 and liked it (although I don't own one - yet), and the 617 version just appeals because I like .22s.
A gun that shoots around corners..... and I mean, the bullet curves around corners. I won't accept the Israeli rifle that bends around corners... I want my bullet to perform the way Hollywood shows in their movies.
Anything less is compromising.
Oh, and I'm willing to pay top dollar...... $325 or less.

B, Are you talking about the Bull Pup? What is rare about shotgun ammo?
No, it's a pistol. FN 5.7. It almost looks like 17HMR but even smaller. Theres several varieties of ammo. The stuff that makes the FN shine is for LE or Military only. It'll go through steel but supposedly not overpenetrate in soft material. I've forgotten all the stuff I read up on about it when they were considering it. Without the good ammo it's not terribly impressive but still pretty cool.

Sweet, good for you Triggerman, you found one pretty darn quick. I'm curious how much gold you had to part with but not too curious, I probably don't want to know.
Those rubber grips will feel awesome but the wood ones will look way better. And they'll look even better when I whittle out of a set of mine for ya.
I'm not sure why he swapped out the trigger, the factory one looks way better and I'm not sure what he thought he gained with that solid one, it might be a little more square or a tad longer or something. You said you get the original too so you can do what you want there. The rest seems pretty well unmessed with.
I'm tickled for you, not like a feather under your nose kind of tickled but kind of full of joy. I know I was pretty elated when mine finally arrived.
Your gonna dig it, Bet it shoots like a champ too.

It's all ergonomics really. The factory trigger is long, that solid trigger looking closer looks a tad longer from what I can see looking at the picture. If you have large hands or long fingers the long trigger really helps over the GI short trigger. I have small hands and short fingers but I still prefer the longer trigger.
The DW trigger should be skeletonized and to me just looks cooler which is high on my importance scale.

I've been interested in the 5.7 cartridge for several years, but just never could convince myself to buy the FN due to the limited supply of ammo and it's cost. The .327 Federal is another cartridge of interest, but the same ammunition issue exists with it. I'm really not interested in the chunky double stack grip of the FN FiveSeven itself, but I have dreamed of a small single stack 5.7 chambered pistol with 8 round mag capacity, built on a platform similar in size to the PM9.
That would be a concept design that most any manufacturer should be able to successfully produce and could possibly be the next major advancement in the "deep concealed" handgun market, or for those that tend to be recoil sensitive. I don't know enough about the ballistics of the 5.7 as it relates to barrel length, so it may be a non-starter anyway.
So, other than my short list of about 20 or so that I really, reeaallly neeed... and my somewhat longer list of lusting for at least one copy of every firearm in existence... a subcompact pistol in 5.7 would top my list... along with a Ruger SP101 chambered in .44 spl.

oh, as long as we're drooling, might as well add at least 50k rounds of (quality) ammo for each individual firearm to the "must have" list:D

I don't think he or my sis-in-law would like that since she's already paid me back for the gun :D I was just the enabler ;)
He had me looking out for one forever in the town I work in. The LGS there hadn't had one since spring (no one did, even Bud's online!), and when they finally got one in back in October, they held it one back for me. They said it would be gone by the end of the day if the put it out, so I got the go-ahead from my SIL. They haven't had one since.
Great marketing by Ruger. Put out a first run, get awesome reviews, build a tremendous demand, then let em rip during the Holidays!
