I removed the mag release/catch from my PM9 and knew I was in for some fun trying to get it back in.
I had fought with it before and it was a pita for me.

This time I simply but an empty shell casing over the end of mag catch leaf spring from the top, pushed the mag catch completely in, removed the empty case...done.

I'm sure someone (Bawanna) who does this everyday will come along with a "well, duh" but that emptycase sure made it easeir for me.
It worked on my Glock too:2rolleyes:.

Cheers,
Tilos

You'll never ever get a "well duh" from me tilos. The case is a great idea and I intend to test my abilities with same first chance I get.

Thats a great idea Tilos...I took my old CW40 spring out to install a new catch that Kahr sent me to fix the magazine falling out during firing issue and I remember fighting that spring with a little screwdriver to get it back in and it was a PITA for sure...

I found another free but useful tool in a Chinese restaurant wooden chopstick...Since it is wood and tapered it worked great to line up the witness mark on the frame to disassemble for cleaning ...

All you do is pull back the slide to the witness mark and insert the chopstick between the slide opening and the barrel feed area and it's the perfect size to align the two witness marks and hold the slide back without using three hands and being wood it won't damage anything...We eat Chinese a good bit so I always pick up a few extra when there....I love free and effective tools!

Actually a length of small diameter tubing is easier to munipulate but everyone has empty cases.
I'm off to the Chinese Buffet;).

Its actually very easy. If you put the catch body back in, rotate is so the shelf can catch the spring, and then rotate it back to the right orientation, the catch itself catches the spring and puts it up on the mag catch. Then all you need do is move it slightly sideways to drop it into the knotch.
