Just have to share this with you. I purchased a new CM9 about a month ago, did all the obligatory prep work per the forum recommendations (well, I must confess I only racked the slide 479 times rather than 500;)) then off to the range.
Initial impressions were spotty. In the first 50 rounds I had a couple of stovepipes on eject using Remington 115gr FMJ, the next 50 or so were fine. A couple days later back to the range with some 115gr Winchester WB FMJ. Out of 110 rd, had 3 or 4 nose dives (FTFeed) all at around the 3rd or 4th round from the mag. Hmmm...?
Took it home, cleaned it thoroughly and lubed it again. A couple days later, back to the range and 75 rd of both WWB and Remington were flawless. I also took the opportunity to compare it to my KelTec PF9 with the same ammo. The Kahr seems slightly more accurate at 11 yd (which is where I normally shoot short bbl handguns) but the big difference is in the recoil: the Kahr CM9 has noticably lower recoil than the PF9 and is easier to shoot. Don't get me wrong, I love my KelTec PF9, but the Kahr is better all the way around.
About a week later I took it with me deer hunting and let my son-in-law and grandson try it. They each shot a couple of mags without any issues.
A few days ago, back to the range and another 75 rd or so downrange (WWB, plus a mag of Gold Dots and a mag of Win PDX-1) all flawless. I'm carrying it daily now!
Impressions: mine needed about 225 rd to fully break in, slightly more than the norm per Kahr, but is now running flawlessly and I'm confident enough in it to carry it (Win PDX 124 gr +P, DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster). This is absolutely the sweetest gun I own, and one of the sweetest I've ever fired!! It's even fun at the range. Accuracy is impressive, handles exceptionally well and just plain feels great in the hand (even though I can't quite get my 4th finger on the grip) Yes, the magazine does not drop freely as others have noted, but that's not a big deal for me. In short although a floorplate extension on the 6rd mag to catch my pinky finger might be an improvement, I'm just so pleased with this little piece. Thank you, Kahr!!!
