i am a close friend of local gun shop owner (ought to be i damn near bought the store with gun purchases) sometimes when i go in and all 4 salesman are busy i help out behind counter till they can get free. today when i went in one of them told a customer that i was the local kahr nut and i could answer his ?s. the customer was looking at PM9, PM45 & used CW40. i told him that i had 5 kahrs and loved them (did'nt tell him i could not get 2 of them running right until i found this forum). he asked if it was allright to dry fire cW40 and i told him yes. as he df i noticed the slide did not seem to be going completely into battery but the trigger pull looked normal and sounded right. he ended up buying PM9. i tried the CW40 and it liked about 3/32 closing all the way. we tried to dissasemble and found the slide lock spring bent down and in. the slide would not come off and the barrel acted like it was spring loaded up. i used a pin punch through the slide lock hole to pull barrel down and was able to dissasemble the gun. the recoil spring was on backward with 3 coils behind head of recoil rod. i guess that the striker block would have kept it from firing but when you pulled the trigger it sounded and felt normal. i wish now that i had checked what striker was doing before i tore it down. see yawl have allmost made me kahr knowledgeable. your thoughts on normal striker sound?

i went first thing this morning and got cw40 and locked the slide back with paded vise jaws what appears to be same amount that it was staying open yesterday and while it sounds normal the striker is not entering chamber. damn sometimes the 69 year old brain still works not often but sometimes
:)

Good for you. I'm not surprised as it would, to my reasoning, not be likely that those folks would allow you to work their counter unless you had something going for you. You're perhaps one of those lucky folk that seem to learn through osmosis.

I gotta get me a couple bottles of that osmosis.
