I was going to get a new 380. I was looking at the S&W bodyguard, but for just a little more size, I can get the CM9. I like the small pistols for IWB carry in the hotter months.

I've got a PM9... fits in my pocket, its light, the trigger is smooth as the inside of yer girlfriends thigh, and it functions flawlessly.

The CM's have been especially well functioning it seems - right from the box

Prices now are as low as have ever been seen on CM's

~~

IWB, summer...in Florida here, hot sticky swampy stuff I live in, and the PM9, or PM45 are both light enough to make carry an almost "forget its there" type of arrangement. I like that!

Close in size yet a large difference in "stopping power". I know that's a fairly undefined term but the 380 is the lowest caliber considered for defense and the 9mm is quite a bit better. I sold a great 380 (Colt Mustang PocketLite) to get a 9mm just for the defense aspect, and isn't that why you're buying a gun in the first place?

A CM9 can be had for under $400. A screaming deal that absolutely puts the similar sized competition out of the game.

I want one badly and I already have an MK9.

I got mine a little over a month ago and absolutely love it. After doing to prep, I have fired over 400 flawless rounds through it and now its on my hip more than it is not.

If your considering the CM9...take a closer look at the PM9 before you decide.
Yes, it's more $'s but the PM9 offers features that the CM9 doesn't and many owners end up adding later on like night sights.
I bought a PM9 all black with night sights (PM9094N) in July. Except for a couple of magazine issues that were promply corrected by Kahr, the little pistol has been flawless.
The CM9 was only out for a short time and I couldn't find one locally to have a FTF with but I'm glad that I couldn't.
I think if you read all of the threads on the CM9 vs. PM9, you will find less problems reported about the PM9 than the CM9.
I bought the PM9 as an alternative to my G27 for the warmer months carry here in FL when the G27 was just a tad too big and it fits that role perfectly.

+1 you might want to take a closer look at the PM9 before you buy.

It's what all the cool kids are carrying now-a-days.

So you really need to succumb to peer pressure and get one and be part of the 'in' crowd. :-)

If Lincoln Mercury products have always appealed to you over Ford products, then the PM9 might be a better choice for you. :behindsofa:

Actually, the differences between the CM9 and PM9 are very minimal. The biggest difference is price and that is mainly due to the barrel. The process to make the PM9 barrel is more labor intensive therefore more expensive. The polygonal barrel is really not needed in a gun that you will be shooting from relatively close distances and the CM9 in incredibly accurate having the conventional rifling barrel. The two are practically the same gun. One not having more problems or being more reliable than the other. Below is a picture of the differences between the two. The CM9 has night sights available too. You can have night sights put on a CM9 and still be over $100 ahead of a PM9 without night sights.

It would be more like a Lincoln Mercury product without every bell and whistle added.

1) Polygonal Rifling - not needed in a self defense gun
2) Rollmarking on the slide VS Simple engraving - minimal cosmetic difference
3) Comes with a 6 & 7 round mag VS just a 6 - 7 round mag is useless
4) Machined slide stop lever VS MIM lever - who cares they both work the same
5) Dovetailed front sight VS Pinned front sight - Dovetailed is adjustable. However, most people have remarked that their pinned sight in dead on. Mine was. True the pinned sight is plastic. If that bothers you and you don't want night sights, Dawson has metal front sights (http://www.dawsonprecision.com/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=80000A5C-1249936205) available for $25.00 or other front sight options and your still way ahead money wise.

Other than that both guns are identical.

If you need to be talked into it maybe you shouldn't get it.

Every gun I have ever purchased I knew I wanted and I got it. Never needed to be talked into it. If you want the bodygaurd get it. I would get the CW9 in a heartbeat given those 2 choices, but no one would have to talk me into making that decision.

Talk your self into to the gun that you like best for what ever reasons you want a gun.

I purchased a CM9 a couple weeks ago, been to the range with it twice, I LOVE that pistol. It seems to be a potential tack driver. It has run flawlessly on 115 gr Rem round nose and hollow points. I previously carried a Taurus 709 Slim for an everyday carry unless it was a shorts day then it was a Keltec P3AT in the front pocket holster. As soon as the break in period is over both the Taurus and the Keltec are going down the road and the CM9 will be the everyday carry. OWB, IWB, or pocket holster- all work very nicely. I don't have large hands and didn't mind recoil at all, don't know how it would be for with someone with large hands. I have not received the free 7 rd magazine from the November special yet.

I faced the same decision and came up with pretty much the same list as Markis82 did. I went for the CM9 and quickly turned around and picked up extra 6 round mags. and a Crimson Trace laser for the price difference.

It's your choice but I haven't regretted going with a CM9 rather than a PM9 in the least.
