I bought a kydex holster from PJ Holster (http://pjholster.com/). This might be the best IWB holster I have ever had. I had a Silent Thunder. But, found it to thick, heavy and bulky. I have also had many other holsters including kydex and custom leather holsters. However, none as good as this. This PJ Holster, holster is fantastic. It is light, sturdy, and comfortable. The ride height is perfect, the gun's grip is just touching the waistband of my pants. There is a nice "click in" as you holster your weapon with good retention, which is adjustable. The draw is easy and smooth and reholstering is effortless. I got the IWB with no cant and the clip on belt loop. Paul will try to accommodate any custom requests you have. I specified no cant, specific ride height, and the belt clip to be no wider than 1". He did all those things for no extra charge. The turn around time was only a few days, excluding shipping time. BTW, I have no idea why my camera does not focus better. You don't need glasses it is my pictures.

Congrats on the good looking holster and thanks for sharing your insights on it.Thanks. It has been several days now and I'm more happy with the holster the more I use it. It is so light, comfortable and easy to grab and go with. $40.00 well spent!!!

Glad you found something you like and is comfortable. I have the CT laserguard on my CW45 which really limits the holster selection. I settled on a Remora that works pretty well, as long as you keep your belt tight enough to keep it from slipping around.

Paul will make you a PJ holster that will fit it with the CT, and you will absolutely love the all day comfort!

I would guess he could. A quote from the website, "If it’s not on the list, and there’s a mold available, I’ll make it for you." I had a Remora for my LCP for pocket carry. Nice holster. The owner of Remora lives right near me. The newer company Sticky (http://stickyholsters.com/) has really taken a chunk of Remora's market. The Sticky owner lives here also. I think Sticky might just be a bit better than Remora.

Very nice. However I would want two modifications... 1) The back Kydex cut so that your combat grip starts with the thumb on the gun below the mag release and not on the Kydex. 2) I'd want the clip cut/notched part way up to allow for pants belt loops that just might happen to fall where you want to position your holster.

For a Kydex holster I expect retention for only about 3/8" of an inch, the gun should almost pop out past that point and have very little or no retention for the rest of the draw. That should be the case with your holster as I see there is a retention adjuster.

Paul is making me an IWB with a J-hook for appendix carry of my CM9. He does outstanding work and goes the extra mile to be sure that you're pleased with the holster.

(see pic below) The retention is about 1/2". The slide release is so large on these guns that it needs to clear it's pocket in the kydex. Then the retention is very light.

I'm ordering a tuckable for the same gun. So, I'm considering all suggestions to incorporate into the new holster.

Hello,

This holster looks great!

Can I ask some questions?
What did you choose for ride height? It looks like the gun sits low or
close to the belt line.
How much does that clip grab your belt? Or how does it grab it?
Im trying to decide on a clip like you have or a full loop.
I like the 1" loop thing you did.

Thanks for posting this. It did help me decide I want of of PJs Holsters.

http://kahrtalk.com/images/tigra/misc/progress.gifRide Height - I explained to Paul that I wanted the gun to ride such that the inside of the handle just touches the top edge of my pants.

Belt Clip - Paul only has 2 designs for this. The J hook and the belt clip. I like the belt clip because it goes over the belt, using the belt to support the weight of the gun. I specified the it be no wider than 1" because in some of the website pictures it looks much wider. It does not grab the belt. The bottom end is not attached to anything so you just pull it out a little and slip it over your belt. I got it for 1 3/4 belt even though is mostly use an 1 1/2 belt. You can use a 1 3/4 holster for either belt but you cannot use a 1 1/2 holster on an 1 3/4 belt.

Hope this helps. Anymore questions, just shout.

Mark

Hey guys, I am also interested in purchasing a PJs Holster for my PM9 and wanted to get a poll on how you like to carry as far as Concealment, Comfort, Canted, Deep Cover, and Holster Position (3 4:00 or maybe small of the back?) I really only want to order this once if possible:)
Thanks, I really appreciate the info.

I'd like to add on this these questions as well:

Does the holster tend to shift around since it only has one attachment point?

I got mine about two weeks ago and I love it. J-hook w/ a cant that sits at 4 o'clock.
I couple it with a sturdy Blade-tech belt. The belt looks nice and can be worn with professional (suits, ties, etc.) clothing. Thing doesn't move, doesn't wiggle, doesn't poke, doesn't pinch. I've tried quite a few tuckable holsters for my pm9 over the last 2 years and this is the best rig yet.

If you email Coach Paul, he can link you to a pic over on Glocktalk. He doesn't have any pics of tuckable holsters on his site.

I have one. No pics, but I can describe it. Instead of the holster and the belt attachment being all one piece, on the tuckable the clip or hook attachment is part of a seperate piece of kydex that is screwed and glued near the bottom of the holster with a thin gap between it and the holster for you to tuck your shirt into. It adds very little to the thickness of the holster.

Yes, if that is where your thumb rests for your shooting grip. On my PM9 mine would be even higher and I'd be removing more Kydex than what you show. As a matter of fact with my two Kydex holsters and one leather holster I cut the sweat shield off entirely.

The retention you've described sounds about right to my thinking.

My reasoning is that in a SD situation you just might put a gorilla grip on the gun and your draw could be flubbed if the thumb is on the Kydex. Murphy's Law type thinking on my part.

I just got one of the new C-hook models that he is designing. He asked me to evaluate it. It solves the sagging pants problem while still being ultra easy on and off. I got it with zero cant and I am wearing it AIWB right now. I like it!

I can't take it anymore. So I ordered a over the belt, 1" wide clip, 15-20° cant, higher ride holster. Just to see how it compares to my much beloved ST. I will report back one week after it arrives.

Same here and my current evaluation is the same as yours. Got mine about a week ago. I have a 15° cant and wear it at 3:30/4:00 and it's great. I also have his over the belt IWB and don't know which I like better at this time. The C-clip is a bit easier putting on and taking off.

Yeah, I already had an over the belt clip one with a 15° cant that I wear just behind the hip. So I got this one with zero cant because I wanted to try it IWB. I like it there. It can still be used at or just behind the hip, too. Definitely easier on and off. Just unbuckle my belt and get 'er done! :nerd:

I've heard so much good about these that I just ordered one for my P9. I have never had a J hook so thought I would try it. I don't carry my P9 much - it's more a 'grab & go' for short trips when I'm not carrying a SIG or 1911. I thought the J hook might be pretty handy and most of my pants are pretty heavy and tight so, hopefully, there shouldn't be much sag. Looking forward to getting it after all the good comments I read.

I'm about to order one for my CM9... I started another thread before I read this one. I'll wear it at about 4:00. I'm getting tuckable. I can't decide on cant and ride height. I've always pocket carried, and I'm ready to change to IWB.

Send an email to Paul. He will discuss all of those options with you and help you decide. I prefer the over the belt clip on mine.

Another vote for Paul's work. Love mine!

The over-clip has another advantage I discovered just tonight. I was coming home from boxing class and had to run a couple of quick errands. I was still wearing my sweat pants, so I just tucked the holster up front for AIWB (which I don't normally like) and tightened the string a bit. Though I probably wouldn't have liked to run with that setup, it worked just fine for a couple of quick trips into stores - no problems at all with the light, little CM9.

I'm still torn...

I like the looks of that one. I want tuckable. I've been putting my CM9 in my waist band and looking in the mirror. When the grip is out I can see it poking my shirt. Tucked or not. I think I want to get about 1/4 to 1/3 of the grip in my waist line. Just walking around the house it feels OK. I think it would be better concealed and I'd still not know its there. I'm more concerned with conceal than fast draw. I currently carry in my back pocket and I think I could draw just as fast even with a little bit of grip in my waist...

What do you guys think???

I'm definately getting a PJ holster... I'm thinking zero cant with just a little grip in the waistband. Does anyone have this setup???

Choosing shirts with patterns vs solid colors helps break that up. A lot - at least to my eye.

A proper holster will press the grip close to your body, even a high rise holster. This might not be happening just sticking your gun in your waistband. A good belt is important.

How thin are you? We guys with spare tires have something for the gun to hide in. :p

Paul can work with you on ride height. I would go with the over the belt clip. The C-hook is still in development and right now it sticks out too far. The over the belt clip is a lot thinner and stays close to the belt.

You guys are helpful, I'm about ready to go ahead and get the Regular ride height, and zero cant. I hope the grip doesnt poke my shirt and I hope It secures the little CM9 enough.

I'm a medium build, my wife really can cook and I'm over 40 so I am developing the love handles. Especially since Thanksgiving and Christmas. I'm actually trying to loose a few lbs. I wear a regular 1 3/4 Carhart leather belt. That should hold it up just fine.

Yeah, that belt will do the job. Be sure and tell Paul about that extra wide belt.

The retention is adjustable, but I have found I had to ask him to loosen more than one holster he has made for me. Tell him how much retention you want. Mine still won't drop the gun when turned upside down, but I can draw it with a light click to release it.

You will find this to be a VERY comfortable holster—all day long! So much so that you will forget you are wearing it! I have a comfortable leather holster, too, although I always know it is there. But this amazing little 1 oz kydex holster is amazing, making itself and the CM9 a part of me.

On the advice from many of you My PJ came today. I will report to all after a few days of wear. This thing is very well made and super light. It probably force my Silent Thunder to be used for times when I need to tuck a shirt in. They are two very different holsters. I think both have a place in my holster wardrobe.

Mine for my P9 came this afternoon and I've been wearing it ever since. It is very comfortable and doesn't print at all. I ordered the J hook and it is very secure and easy on/easy off. I also ordered standard rise and a slight cant. The holster doesn't pull my pants down at all but I wear a good gunbelt all the time and I wear my pants somewhat snug. With something like a K9 the weight would probably tug them down. I mostly use my P9 for grab and go on short trips (along with my 442.) This over the pants, under the belt loop holster makes grab and go a breeze. I'm normally not a kydex fan but reading about this one on the forum caused me to give it a try. I got me a plastic holster for my only plastic pistol and I really like them both! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
