Haven't fired my new CW45 yet, but just removed the slide for it's first cleaning.

When the slide is locked open, it is extremely difficult to push down on the slide stop catch lever. In fact I can't do it with my fingers at all. This was both before & after cleaning & lubing it for the first time.
Had to use the hard plastic end of a screwdriver.....and it didn't get any easier after the lube job.

What's up with that?

Don't wanna have to carry a plastic tool around every time I need to close the slide.

My PM9 has never had this problem.

Suggestions please.

Just guessing here but I think I've seen threads that say you have to have the mag in place. Supposedly a warning that the gun has no mag in place.

The empty mag has always been in place when I'm foolin' with it.

I'd say don't give it a thought until you take it to the range and shoot it. If you can't wait for that load a round into the mag and try dropping the slide release, I think it will work much much easier.

But it's always appreciated. Thanks.

bygawsh...that did the trick!

Loaded some rounds into the mag, inserted it with the slide locked back....and it flipped down easy as pumpkin pie & chambered the 1st round.

Thanks.

As far as I know, the slide stop lever is extremely hard to depress on all kahr model with an empty magazine inserted. Must be like that by design. I know my PM9 is that way, unless it has a round in the mag or no mag inserted.

Not trying to sound nasty, but the manual and Kahr's website both state the slide lever WILL be very difficult to disengage with an empty mag inserted. The follower is pushing up on the slide lock lever when the mag is empty, like it should.

Automatically alerts you that your mag is empty. Easy to press down = rounds in the mag. Hard to press down = no rounds.

Well, might it be the mag follower is pushing up on the slide release? If I recall correctly that's what's it reputed to do.

These things come with a manual? :p
