I had about 900 rounds of various FMJ and hollow points through my PM9 without a single issue. My usual carry load is the Federal 9BP 115 gr. std. pressure load. I've put about 400 of these through the gun without a problem. Amazingly accurate and reliable in all my 9mm guns. However, I had one nose dive jam yesterday with Gold Dot std. pressure 124 gr. The gun had been thoroughly cleaned and lubed before shooting. The jam occurred early in the session after firing about 20 of 30 Gold Dots. This was followed by 75 problem free rounds of Federal 9BP. I realize you can't draw much of a conclusion from one jam but I thought I'd see if forum members had any insights. My inclination is to just stick with the tried and true Fedferal load. Any thoughts?

My SD load of choice is the Gold Dot 124 grain +P. I like it and it cycles through my PM9 flawlessly. I'm sure I've tried others, but I can't remember.

I'd say stick with the SD load that you're most comfortable with and that has the best track record of functionality and performance in your particular pistol. Doesn't hurt to try new stuff now and again, but until you feel comfortable with it's performance the peace of mind is worth relying on the tried and true.

Very odd indeed. I've also used Gold Dots in my PM9 without any issues. Maybe a bad round?

gold dots should be perfect in the pM9, probalby the most used round on this forum. One round could be alot of things that are not gun related. If it is a parts issue, it should duplicate itself time and time again. Being one round, lets chalk it up to user error and just keep an eye on the next session with gold dots. such as good grip,, ..

Jocko: Gold Dots have worked well in my other Kahr pistols. I was surprised by the failure. For now, I think I'll play around with the Gold Dots at the range and use the Federals as my carry load.

Mser: I agree with your point about peace of mind. The Federal 9BP has been my favorite 9mm load for 30 years.

One round is so so hard to trouble shoot as u well know. If the gun can duplicate the issues, then you can start the process of elimination but I would not loose to much sleep over one round. . Shooters can have an off day to. Certainly if u feel u have lost fiath in the GD rounds try anothger brand, lots of "other" great rounds out there to pick from.

No problems with either. The gun has never been back to Kahr. Had 700 rnds through it. Just sold it to begin carry .45 SIG 1911

That's my SD load and it runs flawlessly through my CM9. Anything mechanical can and will fail at some point in time. That's why you should practice the tap rack drill. Fire when ready, Gridley.

I use +P 124-gr GD SB's, too, and it's the magazine problem everyone talks about, but Kahr says doesn't exist.

My PM9 is going back to Kahr because it won't shoot Gold Dots. It is a clearance issue with the slide stop. The fmj's shoot like butter, but anythiung with a less streamlined bullet i.e. a jhp, is trouble. The extra width of the bullet hits the slide stop, forces it up, and hold the slide open. Never had a nose dive problem with them..

not just get a new slide stop from kahr, they will send you one if u call them and explain what it is doig with GD ammo. Sure will save alot of time, as that is more than likely all kahr is going to do .

That's good advice from jocko and I'd take it.

I had to send my slide back because of a problem and the turnaround was 3+ weeks for them to send me a new slide and I sure didn't like being without my Kahr for that long.

I bought some Gold Dot +P short barrel ammo, thinking that it would be my carry round. It's pretty expensive so I just loaded one mag to test along with my other ammo. One the second round I had a nose dive (6 round mag with sanded follower). I'll of course go back with more to do a better test, but until then I carry the Hornady Critical Defense as it always feeds good in my gun.

I called and talked to Ian. Told him what was wrong and he did not offer to send one. He wanted the pistol back. I told him that I thought that the slide stop was probably out of spec. He told me that they want the gunsmith to check it out, and did not offer a new replacement. I probably could have bought a new stop, but this is free, and if it doesn't work, it is their baby..I assumed that they would offer a new part, saving them a butt load of shipping. But not the case. Oh well..

That's what I figured. I did not want to get in a pissing match with CS., telling them, what I think they should do.
