I've always preferred the 45 round...and that's the only real question here. Both Kahr pistols are just outstanding. Pick based on feel in your hand and caliber you like best. And then, as Jocko always says, "shoot it like you stole it". :D

Get the smaller version in 9 cm9/ pm9/ mk9, no sense buying/ stocking up on another size ammo.

No question to me at all. You got the pocket size on hand, go CW45. I enjoy my PM45 more than my K40 as far as shooting goes. I'd not part with either but prefer the 45.

I've got them both, but I like the .45 round better.

Just buy them both -- terrible urge solved!;)

Although, sticking to one caliber makes sense if you're shooting. (except .380, even .357 mag is cheaper than .380 these days )

Well, they're virtually the same size and have the same round count. Only significant difference is the .45 is 3 oz. heavier.

3 oz. isn't a lot.

I have CW9 and CW45... .45 round has always been a sentimental favorite for me. Realistically, IMHO, it doesn't make a WHOLE lot of difference performance-wise (though I know thousands of paragraphs of net-testimony have been written on the subject). I guess when the decision-time came for me, I could more easily think of myself sayin' - "Gee, I shoulda got the .45" - than sayin' - "Gee, I shoulda got the .40"...

Does that make any sense?

You'll be good either way... (Heck, you can always get the "other one" down the road... It's not really a dillemma...)

I bought the CW40 first, cause I needed that particular caliber at the time. Later on I bought the CW45. I put the Chrimson Trace laserguard on the CW45, and carry it about 75% of the time. I do still carry the .40 occasionally, like if I decide to wear a shoulder rig or something the gun with the laser won't fit into. I still prefer that big ole slug of .45 going out the barrel though.

I dont have experience with the 45 but i have about 600 rnds through my cw40 without any problems. Very nice combination of ease of conceal and power.

Some ppl cant take the snappiness of the 40 but i dont think its all that bad. Actually kinda fun. Especially rapid fire!

I feed all my 45's Speer Gold Dot 230 grain or I feed them nothing at all.

Actually that's a little white lie but momma says a little white lie never hurt nobody. Sometimes when I'm really poor I use Winchester SXT 230 grain and I can requisition it during my armorer duties at work. It's almost but not quite just like stealing. I consider it for test purposes. Anybody buy this story?

I like 230 grain HST +P.

Lets see... a nice old 1911 (not A1), a stainless Series 80 Govt, a Reminton-Rand on a Caspian frame, Viking Commander on Caspian frame, OACP on Caspian frame, Springfield Compact, PM4544, PM4543, and a Sig P220.

Guess I lean toward the 45 m'self!

Since the form factor is so similar between the 9, 40, and 45, I'd go with the big guy. I love my CW45.

I used the Yellow box for my first 250 rounds, 9mm, and had no problems, I would say go for it.

I was reading up on ammo, and one of the authors claimed that Hydra Shoks open up at a lower velocity than many other hollow points do. They were very scarce around here, but I finally found a couple boxes, that I will test on some old phone books, and see how they perform, I was using Winchester PDX1 because that's what Walmart had for premium ammunition. I also got some Winchester White Box 230 Gr HP after reading up on the ballistics, about 400FPE at the muzzle, I'll use the phone books on those and the PDX1 and the Hydra Shoks and see which one of the 3 perform best.
I'd like to get my hands on some HST, and see how they do, but I haven't seen any, not even at the gun shows.
A lot of people like the Gold Dots, a friend gave me about 12 to try out, but I think I hot them at the range, so no phone book test. At least you can find them locally to try. Whatever I decide to use I'm going to order a case and split it with my buddy with the short barrelled Kimber. He says the guy that sold him that said to use 185 gr in it since the less mass gets moving quicker. Sounds good, but if the 230 gr Hydra shoks or Gold Dots or Rangers or whatever open up for me, I'd rather use those.
Heck, I might as well learn to make ballistic jello and start using that and throw some bones and stuff in it. Anyway, I think I'll be using the Hydra Shoks for awhile until I find something better. I havn't seen the HST's even at the gun shows. I did see a lot of Ranger boxes at the last couple of shows. I bought a box of 230 gr +p, I think they had the Talon bullet, and they wouldnt run through my gun until I put in a new recoil spring. Then I shot the rest up testing the spring, I think the next gun show is in January so I'll see what different types of ammo I can find and test.
BTW I met a neighbor that has a 200 yard rifle range, he is looking at maybe buying my Diamondback. It works a little better for him than it does me, If he wants it I'll make him a deal and hope he invites me to come shoot once in awhile.
I have to shoot inside the barn out the back door since we got annexed. If it's very windy at all you can't even hear the shots inside the house. The annexing MoFo's were gracious enough to allow us to shoot shotguns at varmints if we have 5 acres or more, I have 8 and always take a shotgun out and fire a couple rounds and have that available in case someone calls the police.
Dammit, I wrote another book, I need a slower keyboard.

I have the CW40 and got that because I wanted to stay with .40 to avoid multiple size ammo.

Really like it, and have had zero malfunctions of any sort.

Have not shot the .45, and for me, there is no reason to change just to change and have a different calibur.

At least the Kahr design is, eh? The PM45 shoots softer than my old Glock 36.
