I have put about 3-400 rounds thru my CW9...I noticed when cleaning that the guide rod was getting beat up pretty badly. I always am very careful about alignment when reassembling. Thinking the stock rod was just softer steel, I ordered the stainless steel replacement from Kahr. I guess I've put 30-50 rounds thru it since installing it, and it is being marked, too.

What say you experienced folk?

I replaced my stock guide rod with a SS rod at 200 rds.The stainless steel rod will show some marks but is still smooth to touch. My CW9 now has close to 800rds through it.So don't worry this is normal as Vinikahr said strictly cosmetic.

I've seen some pretty chewed up guide rods in the CW line. Why it occurs in some and not in others, I don't know. Maybe slightly different diameter or machined rods. It doesn't seem to be a problem with reliable function though.

Here's a discussion about this problem from a while back on GT.
