A lot of people have been posting about slowness, but it is only happening to certain people. I haven't seen the slightest problem. Try deleting your cookies. Kahrtalk used to be slow as molasses until I started deleting cookies regularly a couple of months ago.

Kahrtalk is always super fast loading on my home PC, work PC and Ipod Touch. Do you run Norton or McAfee? If yes, that my be your problem. These virus packages are bloatware. Just a suggestion, uninstall and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes. Both of these packages are free and won't slow down your PC near as much as Norton and McAfee.

Another thing to consider is your DNS server. If you open your router software you will see IP address for Verizon or Comcast DNS servers. The DNS server is like an internet phone book. Often times your service providers DNS server is the problem. You can replace them or add to them with other IP addresses from OpenDNS. I believe the following IP addresses are free open DNS addresses. You try substituting these and see if your system connects to pages faster.

Nice tip. I'm a fan of Malwarebytes. Saves me a lot of headaches with a few family members. Might also help to purge the evil spirits with a command line
ipconfig /flushdns

I think something's going on. I have had problems with KT for 2 or 3 days on three different browsers, and a few minutes ago I had a full Windows blue screen crash while typing here. That has never happened in the 2 years I've been using "7" on three different systems.

I use eSet Smart Security, which doesn't seem to bog my system down like Norton and MacAfee (I've had both, provided free by former ISPs). Are You saying that you can have thorough, up to the minute protection with these free products? I am going to try adding those DNS addresses, because there are some sites that load slowly (not Kahrtalk).

I still think it has something specifically to do with KT. I am not having problems anywhere else.I agree. I started having problems with KT a day or 2 ago. I need to load and reload and reload until it finally opens the site. I have absolutely no problem with any other websites and have not had a problem with KT until yesterday or the day before. I delete all cookies every night as part of my computer close down procedure. Even this post... I click submit reply, nothing. Then click the web browser's X to stop. Repeat several times until it finally connects.

Same. Takes about 45-60 seconds to load each page. Just started a day or 2 ago.

I get the same sort of slowness on the Publisher's Clearing House website. Always have. Used to be slow on KT, too, but not any more since I added the step of deleting cookies regularly. But it hasn't helped with PCH.

Who's your ISP.

Who's your ISP.Comcast here. However, I'm not slow on any of the hundred or so other sites I've been to in the last day or 2. So in my opinion, it has something to do with the server that KT is using.

or the router isn't propagated throughout the internet. I wonder if the KT ISP messed up the router table.

I've discovered something tonight. FF and Pale Moon are very slow, but Chrome is almost but not quite normal. Like everyone else it only happens on KT and never before three days ago. I was wondering about those animated logos at the top of the page. How long have they been there and could they have something to do with the sluggish behavior?

The KT site seems to be working OK with me. That being said, I have random issues with speed in general. Seems most times it is OK then sometimes it is real slow on any site. Kind of like the bandwidth is being sucked up. Not sure what is up with that.

From my end, FF 8.0, Centurylink DSL, and Norton hogware, all loads fast, under two seconds. I think its an area specific problem, not any ones machines.
I had a similar issue with another site. Colorado was having time out problems, but when I connected via a VPN in AZ it went away. Not sure how it was resolved.

Using three different services, my speed tests out consistently to upload at .73 Mbps, download at 3.14 Mbps. It doesn't vary by city. These are the expected speeds for Comcast Economy Plus.

I think the problem is at KT. It would be nice for Kahr to acknowledge their problem and estimate when they will resolve it. Day four.

But it's not there for me at all. The KT servers are working just fine. It has to be something, maybe a bad DSL address server or something between some of you and KT. Not sure Kahr can do anything about it, or even be able to diagnose it anymore than we can.

That's what confuses me, well actually almost everything confuses me but some are getting along fine and some are really screwed up. It's working fine and normal for me at home but at work it's unuseable. I can't even lurk.
I'm near ready to offer a reward to anyone that can make it like it was before.

I need my daily kahrtalk fix.

Heck the other day I was even missing Jocko. Now that's lonely.

Sorry guys, but all looks well here. I don't think it is us. Perhaps some service that some members have in common? I have hit the forums from three different providers this week and had zero issues.

That having been said, the hosting company is doing an update to their backup system overnight so they said we would have a short outage in the early AMs.

So, the common thread seem to be KT. Again. those who are experiencing problems with KT are not experiencing any problems with any other sites. Except for a few that are having problem with a particular site before their problems with KT.

Had the same problem last year here in Houston. Everything was slow. Finally loaded up mozilla fire fox and installed the ad block. That helped but as others have said on a few posts, I think that your IP server is overloaded where ever you are.

If you run the "command" utility it will open a DOS window, at the C:\ prompt type in "PING KAHRTALK.COM" without the quote marks. The very last line of several for give your minimum, maximum and average response time. If there is a problem, you make get the "timed out" message. A good response time is between 20 and 40 ms. Over 50 is bad.

Call Comcast as needed.

I just saw KT go back to normal. It's almost 4 AM here but all seems normal and when I 'ping' the site I no longer 'time out' but get very close to the minimum speed of 50 ms. Let's see if it lasts.

The response speed is going to vary with a dozen or so variables. Your service provider, distance to the target, local network traffic, etc. A 50 millisecond response time is pretty good by most standards. If you're seeing a 100% success rate with sub 100ms times then it's probably not the connection that is accounting for speed issues.

I have noticed that this site as well as a few others were especially slow over the passed few days. I'm guessing it's an issue with a specific node somewhere since only some websites are effected, I would guess they are all physically hosted in the same geographical area too (Kansas City?)

I usually hit the bed at 2:30- 3:00 and up at 10:00

Once in a while I try an early bedtime like 10:00p and I wake around 1:00a, I then hit the forums until 3:00 or later and its bed again until my full bladder wakes me before 10.

When I was working, it was bed at 11:30, up at 7:45, at the desk by 9:00 AM unless I had an early meeting or long drive to an appointment.

I've never learned to nap, but fortunately I don't need much sleep. During the week when I have to be up at 8:00 or 8:30 at the latest, I turn off the light at 3:30. On the weekend when I can sleep in until 9:30 or even 10:00 on Saturday, it's more like 4:30 or 5:00.

I'm good at sleeping, its a border line forte for me. Weeknights, 10 is about as late as it gets for me. Even weekends 11 is about it.
