Hi Guys; I have a question on k9 slide operation; just took down lubed and cleaned, reassembled put in empty mag. racked open to lock position and unable to push slide release lever and have slide close; if I drop mag. out slide release lever releases slide; is there a problem? I can release slide on my p380 either with or without mag. in? thanks help appreciated. John

No. The empty mag pushes up on the lever, making it very difficult to release. Your owner's manual probably tells you this.

Thanks for reply; so I won't have this issue with release lever with rounds in mag. the reason I was wondering my p380 releases with a empty mag. thanks John

Thanks again; for knowledgable replies; I'm fairly new to hand-gunning; glad I started with kahrs, like the feel and design; and I think it will be the only make I'll continue to aquire; so far a early '96 K9 and new p380 haven't shot it yet; did pre shoot prep from Jocko; hopefully it will be issue free (s/n RB2) so far; thinking K40 or MK40 next; reseaching whitch one will shoot, feel better, milder recoil; with med./smaller hands. If you look at the left side of your empty magazine you'll see a small metal ball on the mag follower. When the magazine is empty the follower presses the slide lock lever up, locking the slide back. The added resistance of the recoil spring driving the slide forward makes for an especially difficult slide lock lever. You can either pull back hard on the slide then jam down the slide lock lever and ease the slide forward. Or you can just drop out the empty mag and pull the slide back. A loaded mag should pose no problem. From a tactical standpoint you should probably avoid using the slide lock lever, in a stressful situation you will have trouble hitting such a small part.
