Seems my CM9 has a very sharp corner on the ejection port. I have read a few post about rounding it off, but I sure dont want to file or sand off to much and screw up the finish.
I had ordered a Silent Thunder Holter, and when I pulled my CM9 out of it the first time (and it took some effort), I found that leather had ripped near the top. Just thinking that the holster was really tight, and that had to be the problem. Ron Garrett responded very quickly, making me a second holster and it was in my hands a week later. Same result but not as bad, Ron and I emailed back and forth and we agreed that it had to be the sharp edge on the ejection port.
So now I need to eliminate the problem before i look for a different holster again.
Just to let everybody know Ron Garrett was great, willing to refund my money after the 2 holsters.

just round it off with a fine file and then polish with some fine grit paper. and it will never appear again. The shell casing are hitting it and that is what is causing that little burred area. Mine did that in the beginning and nce I took off a tad of that sharp corner it never came back,

I have to ask you, did you bother to adjust the tension screws on the holster at all? They come too tight but a allen wrench is included to set the tension to your own likeing. I loosened mine and there has not been any problem holstering the gun or drawing the gun from the holster.:boink: I am surprised that a scratch in the leather inside the holster, out of sight caused you so much stress. No one else would have noticed that as a problem.

Yes I did check and loosen the tension But that was not the issue. There is a sharp angle to an the ejection port and I think Jocko his it right.
I finally looked at the area with a jewelers loop and you could see rough edges Just wish I had known all this before damaging the second holster. It probably all could have been advised
I would still recommend the Silent Thunder just make sure that edge gets rounded off.
To late for me, guess I'll go this so ethic ghats just kydex.
They all seem to be varying degrees of sharp, depending on just how they cut the angle there for the casing relief in the port. The sharp side is the outside which is easily rounded, as was suggested. Caution tho - dont round the inside of that part, just the outside.

I took a medium Arkansas stone I had laying around and used it as sort of a file to knock the edge off a little. I cannot even tell there ever was an edge there now. And it has not come back after hundreds of rounds.

My CM9 has the same sharp ejection port. It looks like the slide is machined to a very sharp edge and when the spent casing hit, it becomes a serrated knife. I too have a Silent Thunder holster and can see where it is cutting the leather. I went ahead and smoothed the edge with knife sharpening stones. I don't see this as Silent Thunders fault; if anything it's Kahr's fault for not beveling the slide. I just sent an email to Silent Thunder (Garret Industries), so that they might warn other CM9/PM9 customers.

The CM9 is stainless so no issues with smoothing off a few sharp points. It's too bad you didn't find the cause before giving up on the Silent Thunder as it's the best out there. Had you know the cause Ron would likely added room for the sharp point in the second holster.
Just my opinion as a biased fan of Silent Thunder, smooth off all the sharpness and try one more. Just slide it in carefully and back out carefull the first couple times. My port was also sharp and Ron offered to replace it but we talked about what to do to fix it so I did that instead. My soft leather was scratched, but a light sanding of the area smoothed it back out then some leather polish (can't remember the name) made it slick and all was well and still is. My slide is black so I didn't file it just modded the holster.

I agree this happened because of the Kahr design of the ejection port. Was NOT the fault of Garrett Industries or the Silent Thunder. It looks like a great product. Ron did replace it once, had the same thing happen, thou not as bad. He offered to refund my money or make me a third holster at a reduced price, if I agreed to smooth off the ejection port.
People need to be aware of this issue first thou. This is a great product, felt great. I would recommend it.
But I have spent enough money. I didn't feel Garrett Industries should take the full hit of the refund, as this was not their fault. I have returned both the holsters that did not work out for me. and just asked to be refunded what ever was fair.
For now I will just look for something cheap that will work.

Here is what, IMO, you should look at: the PJ Clip-on IWB Holster (http://pjholster.com/?page_id=37). It is made of Kydex, weighs about an ounce—light as a feather. Very good adjustable retention. I have one for my CM9. Wear it at about 8:30. It is the only holster I own that literally vanishes from my consciousness when I am wearing the gun in it! I mean I cannot feel it there AT ALL, can't feel the weight of the gun there, or its mass when I move around. It and the gun seem to become part of my body. I don't have pics of mine, yet, but here are a couple of pics of one made for a Walther PPS.

Note how there is not one extra millimeter of length or width. It holds the gun up tight against your body. It is SUPER THIN. It has a small but effective sweat shield that doesn't get in the way when you draw. And this absolutely perfect 24/7 carry holster is only $40 shipped from one of the nicest guys in the holster business!

Yep. They come sharp as a wood chisel.
I noticed in my Mitch Rosen some pretty deep cuts so I carefully rounded the ejection port edges, front and rear. I don't get any more leather dust when drawing and much easier to draw as well. I suppose you could get really aggressive with the smoothing here, but I don't want to booger up the lines too much. It is natural catch area for this gun.

Some examples - my PM9 after polish, before cleanup.
And one before polish, so ya can see what the dremel sanding drum does (BE CAREFUL WITH THAT THING!)
