I received my CM9 today, brought her home and did the proper prep as per the thread here. First thing I observed was the stiffness of this little pistol, all working parts are very tightly fitted. In my experience this indicates 5000 rounds down the road it still be shooting tight groups and maintaining it's build quality. In my first mag I had the slide not stay open on the last round, that happened 3 more times in 100 rounds fired. In that first mag I also had a ftf (fire), but when looking I saw it failed to pick up the round, so I hand racked the slide and it fired fine. In that first mag I had a spent casing fly straight back at my neck and down my shirt, YEEHAW!!!!!! Now I have a brand new nipple tat for Christmas! At round 85 it did that again, is this common in the first 100 rounds?
After that spent casing hitting my neck at round 85 no more issues noted.
I loved how well this little gun points for me, I can see after a little more practice I will be able to shoot it very well without having to think about either sight. And isn't this what we are after with a self defense piece? I am very pleased with this pistol and am quite sure it will only get better.
Hope you can answer about the spent casing issue.

The way the casings are tossed will change as the spring loosens up. Tight springs generally keep the casings close. I had a fresh one go behind my glasses and give my eyelid a nice surprise. Gave my son a good laugh.

The recoil spring can be widened a tad or just be careful on assembly. I've gotten used to taking my time at this point of re assembly and no longer have the problem.

They are Jekyll and Hyde guns. You will find a big difference shooting, racking experience as your gun breaks in, all for the better. I can slingshot mine easily, all still tight, but nicely wearing together.

My PM45 will toss a case in my face if I get sloppy on my grip at all. I think mightymouse is right and it will improve with more rounds fired. Make sure you have a rock solid grip on it.

Make sure the open end of the recoil spring is oriented up towards the barrel or down if your assembling the slide like me upside down.

Keep shooting, it will only get better and better.

Took her out for another 140 rounds today, 240 total. Today's rounds were flawless, seemed like the whole gun really started to break in. If I do my part, this little gun is very accurate. I did some light sanding on the feed lips of the mags and followers, seems to be much easier on the fingers for loading now. I love the long trigger pull for carry and how crisp it breaks. The trigger allows me to carry one in the pipe with my Uncle Mike's #4 in my jacket pocket, it covers the trigger nicely and allows for a very clean draw. I will continue with dry firing to acquaint myself with the trigger. I will carry this gun tomorrow, it feels that good.

I was going to say report back after 200 rounds as strange things start to happen with kahrs. THEY GET SMOOTHER. action mates up with the frame, recoil springs take their set, shooter and gun mate up alot better.

But ur good to go. The rounds hitting ones head, "live with it". If it happened every time that is one thing but from what u stated it is not, and ones grip can change a tad, head postion can change a tad, round itself can be loess/more powerful./ recoil springs have not taken their pre designed set. Ur OK, just shoot the fokker like u stole it, and welcome aboard. Any qeustions these guys here can really help alot.

Your failure to lock back on the last round could be your grip. ANY pressure on the slide lock will cause this type of failure.

I checked that, and I am left handed making that very hard to do as a lefty. I am sure it was the stiffness of the recoil spring because after the initial 100 rounds the problem is gone.

yup being a lefty that sh-t just ain't gonna happen.

good to see the problem is gone. Kahrs recoil springs are stout, IMO very stout. It is whatit is. If ur gonna do some serious pre-porep, but another set of springs and give them also the 100 rounds break in until the slide is locking open then take um out and mark um good to go. sure will save some headaches down the road.

There really is a big difference in ones kahr after a couple hundred rounds. things that might have happened in the first 50 rounds seem to have gone away. Hand rackingnow is easier, Shooter and gun have now mated up better to. It is a working combination that requaires gun and shooter to do the right thing TOGETHER.

After 500 rds, this pistol is still tight. One officer couldn't even rack the slide on the empty pistol. She blamed the ENPTFE on the slide, but I have no issues racking it. It's still super tight. Going to put another 200 rds of duty ammo through it tonight, then I will start carrying it again. (gotta make sure the ENPTFE didn't do anything bad, which it didn't, but any excuse to shoot more of the city's ammo...)

One more question for the brain trust of kahrtalk, I am thinking of polishing the barrel of my CM9. I don't really care for the dull silver factory finish. I plan to use my dremel and some Mothers mag polish. The questions is, after I polish it will the smileys and barrel hood scratches come back after polishing? I know on a Glock after polishing they don't reappear and was hoping it would be the same for a Kahr.

Polish the roof of the slide, too.
