Shubbies

Well, I'm on my third snub and am committed to mastering it this time. Traded the other three when I decided that I could not shoot them, but I am making some progress with this 638. I do not like the looks of this gun, not the shrouded hammer but rather the matte frame. I want a shiny gun, something I can dress-up with fancy grips and carry on my hip; a real pimp gun.

S&W does not seen to have a stainless or nickel J-frame in .38 on their website, so I guess it means a used gun. Anybody know earlier models may have been offered? And, other than cosmetics, what to check in a used revolver?

The 640 and 649 are also stainless.
While it's bead blasted, I've been well pleased with my older Model 60-9 over the years.

I think some mothers mag polish and a lot of hours and it will look like a nickle finish.

You can polish aluminum, but if it's anodized (or has some other finish applied) that will have to be removed first. In that case you lose any benefit of the surface treatment.

Thanks, Greg. I think I've got some work to do when my 638 comes back from Ahlman's. After all, it has to match my shiny CM9, doesnt it?! :D

Maybe you should call them and see what they would charge to do it. I bet they got all the right stuff to make short work of it and when it arrives you'd be all done and ready to go.
