AMC's had to be one of the worst cars made....they mostly were mutt's made up of all types of parts. Wiper motors from one company and mid year from another company, etc. I remember when the Pacers came, out a total POS. Valve covers did not use gasket just a bead of RTV [early version rtv that did not work very well], they leaked like a sieve. The doors were so big hinges broke regularly, gas tanks had a valley [ indentation to fit car] that trapped rain etc. and caused tanks to rust out on top. Steering racks leaked fluid. I worked at AMC dealer back then in the service department. AMC was internally known as All Most a Car= AMC. Getting parts to service them regularly was challenging due to constant mid year vendor changes and parts would come in wrong. At least we also had Jeeps which were not as bad. The nightmare continued when AMC took on Renaults.....18i's and LeCars were horrible.
