Nope…… kids used those to walk/clomp around on….like modern platform shoes.
The doubled cord was held up tight in the hands to keep the cans on the bottom of the kid’s shoes.
The “walkie-talkie” tin cans had a single string tied into the center bottom of the cans. And they actually did carry voice sounds to the other can at the end of the line.
