Congratulations on that new to you gun. The K9 is a good one.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

Mentioning rust makes me wonder if your K9 might be one of the early carbon steel models.

This is an early carbon steel K9. Note the non-machined, (flat), area above the trigger guard on the frame. Does your K9 look like this one?

Or... does it have a machined, (thinner), frame in front of the trigger guard like this one.

The picture you posted shows your K9 to be the older style as shown in the top photo of my post, (the black K9 with the smooth wood grips). I suspect your slide is carbon steel. I recommend a product called Eezox to control surface rust on your new gun. Enjoy it and be safe.

oh you are right, i am a little slow, sorry,
ok fine with me, guess i will have to get some eezox this weekend then,

but on the bright side i am lucky i can even find a used black k9 at all,
i can tell the gun was shot very little as the slide is much tighter than my cw9 which has only 100 shots through it,

    thanks again guys,
