Long Time Kahr Fan....Mixed Emotions

I got my first Kahr in in 1996, a K9, carried off duty a bunch. Next was a PM9, also carried off duty, then the Ultimate a K40. that is the ultimate, then my favorite MK9. It is all that will be needed by me into the future. Due to age related hand strength today I took delivery of a brand new, long anticipated p380...long story short, it DON'T work. Asked for return to factory authorization. We will see. As an old time DA revolver shooter I love my Kahrs. After that disappointment I took my MK9 down to my range and fired a quick 6 rounds at 15 yards into a "minute of solar plexus.....it renewed my belief.

Yeah, my P380 was very ammo sensitive when I picked it up (early 2000's). Mine would eat most(-ish) Winchester white box flat points. Some failure to feeds in the first 200 rounds with ramp strikes and hang ups on the extractor being my issue. My P380 absolutely would not feed any Fiocchi ammo, be it target FMJ or HP.
Then again, most 380's are somewhat ammo sensitive as a breed.
Later I discovered the extractor had a very sharply machined rim notch. I used a tiny Dimond file and broke the sharp bottom edge, then polished the extractor (and ramp) with some compound to smooth everything pretty. With the little gun cleaned up, my next range trip had only one stovepipe in 250 rounds, but I believe that was an ammo issue as the "bang" was more of a "poof" to the extent I had to check and see if the bullet had even exited the barrel. (eastern European bulk ammo, because that's all I could get)
Since then, My P380 has run like top... but I still won't feed it Fiocchi ammo. Like Nacy said, "just say NO".
Your milage may vary. Best of luck with yours, mine is the go-to for dress slack and sport coat nights out. It is a true ghost in a front pocket holster as is the spare mag in its back pocket holster.

I've heard always of reliable issues with Kahr's .380s and I believe the original iteration of their .45s.

Fiocchi ammo has a longer OAL than other brands. Fine for revolvers but not for some autos. It was the only ammo I've had issues with in a Kahr.

My CT380 refused to shoot WWB, but the Hornady Critical Defense ran through it like a champ.

Whine over. Posted a few days ago my ne p380 would not fire. Requested help from Kahr. Super response from them and they advised sending it back. Made plans to do that/ Then checked this Forum, read everything and found info on not using Fiocchi ammo......guess what I had been trying to shoot. Next AM shot two mags of Good old Remington UMC JHP. Happy camper. The more I shoot this pistol the better I like it. Thanks for the advice I got here. Too far into my Jimmy Beam to try to post pics of todays range targets. In my jammies, aint't going out again.....as said "Happy Camper"

As a footnote, I have used Fiocchi ammo in an HK and in a M&P without any issues.......................revolvers no problem. just the cheap flatnose.

Glad things worked out for you. Before I really understood guns, I got rid of a few that were probably good guns. I did not know to try different ammo, better than factory mags, what limp wristing could do, what a dirty gun could do, what a dry gun could do, etc. etc.
