Another good example about not having a timeout to chamber a round and "get ready". Life is that way... choices... with Darwin taking notes.

Thomas Jefferson said
“A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.”
and
"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading".
Yep…..The bad man decides when it happens and has all the advantage, best to be ready
Yep! I told my buddy who insisted on carrying without one chambered, in kind of a 5th grader metaphor sort of way, so you plan to say “hold on a sec Mr Bad Guy. Let me chamber a round and then we can go from there”. Showed him a few vids of how quick stuff goes down, along with a few vids of people without one chambered getting brutalized. I then re-explained the many safeties that were already built in between his holster, the safeties on the gun, how I had taught him gun safety… he finally relented and now carries one in the chamber.
If you don't carry with one in the chamber carry a can of soup instead. The soup can is always ready to throw.
If you have the time to open it quickly the bear might pause long enough to eat it, and give you a chance to get away. Same principle I guess
Bears can open their cans with what they always carry
Or just talk to him....
