    Default PM9 grip mod

I have an older PM9 that I keep as a carry gun for those times when my G26 with optic is too big. One major concern I have with my PM9 is a difficulty to easily rip out the flush 6-round magazine in the event I have a malfunction that causes the magazine to stick in the mag well (such as a failure to eject followed by a double feed).

Should pressing the mag release button not eject the magazine (and this has happened to me during malfunction clearance drills), there may not be enough magazine exposed for me to grab, which makes ripping the magazine out of the gun a more time consuming process.

    I recently saw a YT video ...

Kahr PM9 with over 40,000 rds vs a New Kahr PM9 - TheFireArmGuy

that shows a PM9 with half circle cutouts at the base of the frame that would allow for support hand thumb and index finger to pinch the exposed magazine and pull the mag out of the frame. I would attach a photo, but I don't know how, so you will need to watch the video to see what I am talking about.

I would like to take a Dremel tool and do this to my gun, but I wanted to first ask if there was any reason to avoid doing this (other than a lower resale value). I can't imagine it causing any structural weakness, but I've been wrong before and I wanted to ask those who might know before I start something I can't undo.

    Thank you.

I've seen that done before, seems like some members here have done that also. I don't think it would cause any malfunction issues. Personally, I'd stay minimalist and not remove any more than necessary to achieve a good purchase. It's a good solution to the issues you describe.
I believe that is Ole Jocko's gun used in that video. I could be wrong, but I recall someone did a video using his gun and I know it had a ton of rounds thru it.

    Wow. Forty thousand rounds!

I can't think of any reason why modifying the grip like that would cause a problem.
And re: the video.... I'm in complete agreement with his assessment of the PM/CM9. Always amazes me how well that little gun performs.

The only possible problem with notching the grip would be getting pinched at the worst possible time. I’ve had a blood blister from more than one firearm.

I had the same problem when I got my EDC CM9 ; may I suggest the following which did , use seven rnd. mags , degunk , polish the snot out of them, all four sand you sides, and just break the edges mag catch hole w/600 grit paper, then polish to mirror surface w/ flitz . PM/CM9s w/seven rnd. mags will easily fit most pockets and you will have a CM9/ Covert of sorts . P.S. watch your toes, cuz mags will now drop like they were shot ! pun intended.

Here's an old thread about sticking mags having a bulge and a way to fix them:

lots of other mag threads too.
    here's a search:
